Devil’s Music

Chapter 422: Son Rin's Art of War

Above Seoul City Hall. The building behind the stage, where entry was restricted to non-government personnel, showed two men on the rooftop, arms crossed, comfortably observing below.

Gamagin, with his long black hair and sunglasses, watched a blond young man enter through the rooftop door and said,

"Pyemon, did you deliver the warning properly?"

Pyemon, smiling, put his hand in his pants pocket and walked over leisurely.

"Yes, Lord Gamagin."

Amducias, frowning, uncrossed his arms and gritted his teeth.

"Lord Gamagin! Shall I go and grind them to dust right now?"

Pyemon tapped his shoulder and said,

"Don’t overdo it. It seems like he's reflecting."

"How can such trash reflect and improve? Who knows what he might do behind our backs later? Wouldn’t it be better to eliminate him now, Lord Pyemon?"

Gamagin, while enjoying the thumping beats of dance music and the splendid and beautiful choreography of girl groups, looked down at the cheering audience and said,

"Human beings are such beings, loved by God. Even the kindest can instantly become the epitome of evil, and those at the brink of evil can become completely different individuals given the right trigger. And that power is greater than expected."

Pyemon, dusting off his body, stood beside Gamagin.

"It seems he was reflecting sufficiently. He must have understood properly, so don’t worry. By the way, how are the preparations going?"

Gamagin looked up at the winter sky.

"The time has come."

Surprised by Gamagin's words, Amducias raised his voice unknowingly.

"What? Are you becoming an angel now?"

Gamagin slowly nodded, feeling the energy of the people enjoying the stage.

"Yes, soon."

Pyemon, quietly observing Gamagin’s profile, asked,

"When is it?"

"Well, just know that I could immediately go to a position equivalent to Caliel."

"It seems a lot of divine power has been gathered."

"It’s been the Song of Water. It healed humans, and the joy felt by their families. The hope given to those not yet treated through doctors’ announcements and journalists’ articles has brought all their divine power to me."

"The number of people who have heard the child's music is still limited. If it’s like this already, imagine the divine power you’ll have when the child’s album is released on streaming services during the tour."

As Gamagin turned to his left, he saw a black van surrounded by security vehicles approaching.

He crossed his arms as he gazed at the vehicle likely carrying Geon and his group.

"The divine power that accumulates after that will be for the child’s future."

Amducias cocked his head.

"The child's future? Ah, are you really thinking of making that child a lower god?"

Gamagin slowly nodded, and Pyemon asked urgently,

"Are you going to take him now?"

"No."

Relieved by Gamagin’s quick denial, Pyemon asked,

"Have you discussed this with Michael?"

"Yes, Michael also thinks similarly to Gushion. Ah, speaking of which, I don’t see Gushion. Where is he?"

"Well..."

"Hmm? Go on."

Hesitant, Pyemon scratched his head and pointed in one direction.

"He thinks he’s become human... He pitched a tent and is inside it last night."

"What?"

Amducias burst into laughter.

"There’s a bigger devil than Lord Pyemon, ridiculous, haha."

In the front row of the stage, Jee was getting annoyed by someone pushing her from behind. Turning around and seeing a foreigner, she was startled and whispered to Yoon-hee,

"Sister, it’s a Westerner!"

Yoon-hee, also watching a fervently dancing Italian man behind them, nodded.

"Why would a foreigner be so enthusiastic about a Korean girl group? Is he a K-pop fan?"

"Exactly, this guy keeps pushing me as he jumps around. Sister, you speak English well, can you talk to him?"

"I… I'm not that good!"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Ah! What's the use of a high TOEIC score if you can’t even speak to a foreigner!"

"Tch! That’s how most Koreans are!"

The foreigner leaned forward and apologized in Korean.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you. I’ll be careful."

Realizing he understood everything they said, Jee and Yoon-hee covered their mouths.

Impressed by the handsome man who spoke Korean fluently, Yoon-hee, feeling guilty about their earlier conversation, cautiously said,

"So, sorry. We thought you didn’t understand Korean and were just talking among ourselves..."

"Haha, no, I’m the one who should apologize. You too, miss."

Although the man spoke Korean, his Western appearance meant Jee only knew a few English phrases.

"Uh… Da…

That's okay. I'm fine, thank you. And you? Wa, what's your name?"

Watching Jee blabbering nonsense, the man smiled and said,

"I'm Gushion."

Six girl groups had taken the stage. People knew the concert would start at eight, so everyone waited for Kay’s time while endlessly enjoying the stage.

As the last girl group descended, intuitively sensing Geon had arrived, the audience erupted in cheers from the front, struggling on tiptoes to see who was getting out of the car.

But the car that went backstage disappeared into a blind spot, leaving the crowd cheering and gasping with curiosity.

Shortly after, a subtle noise of a microphone turning on stopped the murmuring crowd, who covered each other's mouths and listened intently as a clear, soft male voice filled the square in front of Seoul City Hall.

"Rock in Korea!!! We're rocking everyday!!!"

Though the stage was empty, the voice alone resonated, and none among the audience of 200,000 didn't recognize whose it was.

Suddenly, the crowd surged like a wave, screaming at the top of their lungs. Everyone raised their hands high, welcoming Geon to the stage, yet it remained empty.

At the peak of the cheers, a sound much louder than the previous girl groups' performance blasted through, marking the beats of the bass and drums.

The prelude alone made people sway, and the music, though slightly slow, rhythmically moved the bodies of the 200,000 attendees.

As everyone anticipated Geon's appearance, the first to come on stage was not Geon.

While the audience might have been disappointed, they went wild as they saw the man who appeared.

"It’s Sneep Dog!!!!!!"

"The legend of hip-hop is in Korea!! Can you believe this is real!!??"

Sneep, who usually wore a jersey and dreadlocks, appeared unusually dapper in a black suit and dreadlocks tied back neatly, wearing black sunglasses.

With a playful expression despite his neat attire, Sneep drew a V with his fingers and delivered his rhythmically smooth rap.

Sneep Dogg is the name Dogg Pound's the Dog Name.

When I was locked up, I couldn't wait to get loose.

Cuz back in the days, on the side where it's at.

A nigga had to have a fat stack.

Now you can look to the Sun, and spot the moon.

I'm fuckin up every nigga known in the industry.

As Sneep rapped in his unique style, the crowd screamed,

"AAAAAH!! Killing it! To see this person perform live in my lifetime! I feel like I could die happy, it was worth the wait!"

"Wow, how great must Kay be for such a person to fly all the way to Korea to perform, and at a free concert!"

"Is the free concert important? Look at those cameras. This is being broadcast worldwide!"

As the audience noted, ladders had been installed since the previous night with dozens of broadcasting cameras mounted on them, filming the stage.

Not only that, foreign broadcasting vehicles nearby also had numerous cameras filming from their roofs.

As the audience saw three helicopters hovering above with cameras, they realized once again that this stage was the focus of the world.

As Sneep's smooth voice contrasted with his aggressive lyrics, another man in a suit, but in stark white with a khaki beanie, emerged. As he appeared, the 200,000-strong audience erupted once more.

"It's Neminem!!!!!"

"The Rap God!! A divine appearance!!"

As the beat changed and additional beats punctuated the slow drum rhythm, the pace seemed to quicken.

Walking forward and eyeing Sneep, Neminem spat out rapid-fire rap.

Look, I was gonna go easy on you and not to hurt your feelings.

It's funny, I can not hear you anymore, Sneep.

And to think I used to think you were the shit, bitch.

To think it was you at one time I worshipped, shit.

As Neminem's distinctive diss rap exploded, Sneep shrugged his shoulders, and the audience screamed.

Neminem, veins bulging in his neck, continued to rap relentlessly.

When I was just a little baby boy.

My momma used to tell me these crazy things.

I am phenomenal.

Unstoppable, unpoppable thought bubbles.

Untoppable thoughts, fuckin' juggernaut that'll.

Maybe I needed to grow up a little first.

Well, looks like I hit a growth spurt.

As Neminem's last verse erupted in a booming sound, he leaned forward, and the music changed.

Drums and bass alone marked the beat, but with the addition of an electric guitar melody, the music swallowed the stage with the explosive power of rock rather than hip-hop. The stage's back curtain opened, revealing Geon in a red velvet suit.

The Seoul City Hall Square, with its 200,000-strong audience, surged like a wave, nearly bringing down Seoul with its deafening cheers.
