Chapter 221: The Wise ThunderBird
Su Yen hovered over the Bonescarred Forest for a couple of seconds before he took a random direction. He flew for several kilometers without seeing the beast of his choice.
Suddenly, he felt the atmosphere shift and creased his brow. He turned his head and looked in a certain direction, and a light smile appeared on his face.
Whoosh!
In a blink, he appeared in a big valley with thunder cracking back and forth. Standing on a solid rock was a massive beast bathing in the thunderbolt.
The beast was a Thunderbird, a grade-4 creature.
Its feathers were glistening with an aura full of majesty, black and blue feathers intricately intertwined, forming a unique pattern.
The beast's wings spanned wide, each feather humming with electric energy. Its beak was sharp and metallic, and its eyes glowed with otherworldly intelligence.
Sparks danced around its body as if it harnessed the power of the storm itself. The Thunderbird's presence resonated with raw power, and the air crackled with the intensity of its electric essence. It exuded an imposing and regal aura, a true monarch of the forest.
Suddenly, the Thunderbird turned its sharp gaze toward Su Yen. The two locked eyes, staring at each other without blinking.
Slowly, it stretched its wings, extending over 10 meters, and a terrifying pressure emanated from its body. While still maintaining its gaze with Su Yen, the Thunderbird stood up slowly.
Looking at the bird that was over 15 meters tall, Su Yen's mouth curled upward, and he walked casually toward the beast.
Watching his confident stride, the Thunderbird had a slightly surprised expression on its face. Still, it maintained its pose with a look of interest in its eyes.
Su Yen stopped a couple of feet from the beast and raised his head. "You're big."
"Really!" A sweet voice came from the Thunderbird.
It lowered its head and looked at Su Yen with a fascinating gaze. "You're the first human to set eyes on me for the past five hundred years.
"Is that an honor or what?"
"Hmm. You can take that as an honor." Its expression slowly changed, and its pressure increased.
"Are you ready?" Thunder cackled around, ready to erupt at any moment.
"Ready for what?" Find your next read on m-vle-mpyr
"For your death, of course."
Su Yen chuckled and said. "You can try."
Hmm!
The Thunderbird frowned and halted its attack. It looked at Su Yen with a strange and bewildered gaze. It realized this young man was not as simple as he looked.
Still, as a grade-4 beast, its pride must not be questioned.
Whoosh!
Tens of its feathers shot out like deadly arrows, ready to cut Su Yen into two. The feathers tore the wind into two and appeared right in front of Su Yen in a blink.
Su Yen looked at the attack and only smiled. He raised his finger up slowly and swung it horizontally.
Instantly, the horrifying feather attack was sliced into pieces, but that was not all. The Thunderbird's expression changed immediately as it felt a horrifying sensation coming at it at a breathtaking speed.
Quickly, it reacted and used its wings to defend itself.
Bang!
Screech!
The Thunderbird let out a mouthful cry and was sent flying. It flew for a couple of hundreds of meters, destroying the beautiful valley. When it finally stopped, it left a wake of destruction.
Half of its beautiful wings were gone. On its body were terrifying sharp marks, and if the power in the attack were greater than that, it would have sliced deep into its body.
The Thunderbird was stunned for a couple of seconds before its face turned to dread. Its wings flustered, and its spine was drenched in cold sweats.
'I've hit a hard steel.' It cried in its heart.
'Why has such a powerful person come to my home?'
The Thunderbird wanted to cry, but there were no tears in its eyes. When it raised its head to look in Su Yen's direction, it saw him standing right before its eyes with the usual calm expression.
"Do you want to try again?" His voice was calm, as if he were talking about some trivial matter.
What!
The Thunderbird widened its eyes for a couple of seconds, not knowing how to react to his question. It realized how crazy this human was, and if it didn't tread carefully, this time next year might be its funeral.
Quickly, it controlled its aura, withdrew its wings, and put on a submissive expression. As a Grade-4 beast, their intelligence was not any less than that of an adult human being.
Besides, they lived longer and witnessed many changes. Therefore, they are wise and knew when to move forward and when to retreat.
Since it realized this was an insurmountable mountain, it chose the rule 15 of Monster Beast Compendium.
"Esteemed guest, please, how may I be of help to you." This time around, its voice was soothing like a young maiden.
Su Yen looked at the Thunderbird without any change in his expression before he spoke. "I can see why you survive in this treacherous world."
The Thunderbird didn't know what to make of such a comment. It rolled its big eyes back and forth, trying to form an appropriate response but failed to come up with one. Thus, it decided the best option, which was to remain silent.
"Your stay in the forest is over; from now on, you will be my mount." Su Yen gazed directly into its eyes. "Do you have anything against that?"
The Thunderbird froze for a couple of seconds. Its body trembled, and a powerful pressure escaped from its body, but it quickly controlled its action.
It opened its mouth, but words failed to come out. Looking at Su Yen's calm gaze, its instinct was screaming of danger. If it voiced any dissatisfaction with this human, there was only one outcome for her. Death.
The thought of becoming a mount for a mere human irritated her to no end and wanted nothing but to tear Su Yen into pieces. However, she knew better.
While it was still trying to accept the notion of becoming a beast for this mere human, it heard Su Yen's voice.
"I don't have all day. If you don't accept, I will be going."
Hmm!
The Thunderbird rolled its big, expressive eyes and sucked in a cold breath. It wanted to retort and tell this human to leave her home, but she dared not. Slowly, she uttered the thing she hated most.
"It's an honor to serve someone as powerful as you," she bowed respectfully.
Sighed!
A deep sigh escaped from Su Yen, and he muttered, "I thought you wouldn't agree. I would have loved to use your meat for dinner."
Instantly, the Thunderbird shivered, its majestic feathers standing on end, and it took a couple of steps back. The surrounding air crackled with an intensified electric charge, as if the very atmosphere responded to the fear emanating from the Thunderbird.
The fear within the Thunderbird's eyes mirrored the turmoil within its very essence. The prospect of becoming a meal for the human had sent shivers through the creature's formidable frame.
The once-proud queen of the storm was now a trembling entity, aware that it had narrowly escaped a fate it could scarcely comprehend.
"Don't tell me you're scared? Are you?" Su Yen teased.
This time around, the Thunderbird wanted to cry. It lived in the Bonescarred Forest for a couple of centuries but had never encountered such an unreasonable human.
She was an overlord of the forest, but now she was on the brink of crying.
Watching the ugly expression on the Thunderbird's face, Su Yen shook his head and said, waving his hand dismissively.
"Change that expression of yours. I'm just kidding. I'm not going to eat you."
The Thunderbird looked at him for a couple of seconds before it let out a sigh of relief, and her expression returned to normal.
Su Yen raised his finger, and a sliver light shot out from it. Before the Thunderbird could react, it entered its forehead.
Instantly, a cry of anguish escaped from its mouth, and it rolled on the ground, screaming in pain. The deadly quiet forest came to life when every beast in the vicinity heard the loud, piercing cry of the Thunderbird.
However, instead of them approaching the valley, they escaped for their lives. As an overlord beast, no beast dared to come to its place of dwelling.
After a couple of minutes, its cry began to lessen, and shortly it stopped. The Thunderbird opened its eyes and looked at Su Yen with a fearsome gaze.
Previously, it thought it could escape from this human when he was not around, since the human race had long-lost the technique of putting a seal on a beast's soul. But now, it realized that was not the case.
The mark on its soul was so fearsome that if the thought of going against its master's order appeared in its mind, its soul would shatter.
A deep sighed escaped from its mouth, and it said slowly.
"Master."
"Don't worry. I won't treat you badly. But first, get me fifty grade-2 flying beasts," Su Yen said with a light smile on his face.
