Chapter 756: [Bonus Chapter] Why Are You Here?
Abaddon could tell that Amaterasu was erecting a firm wall between them.
He didn't attempt to tear it down, because he didn't feel that it was his place to do so.
He hoped that his son would get on the path of making things right sooner or later, but who knew when that would be? Your next read awaits at m v|l-e'-NovelBin.net
"...Please, let's not waste time speaking of old flames." Amaterasu dismissed. "You all are not so fond of me to just randomly come and visit me for something as simple as idle chit-chat."
Abaddon nodded harmlessly, already preparing to drop the other shoe.
"Actually... I've come to speak with your father. He wouldn't happen to be around, would he?"
Amaterasu's face somehow became even paler.
Abaddon is liked by a lot of Shinto gods. But Izanagi is most certainly not one of them.
Perhaps it is just because he is a creator deity, and Abaddon is fated to be the end of all creation.
They're like oil and water. Bloods and Crips. Alabama and Auburn. Country music fans and everybody else.
The few meetings they have had have nearly resulted in battles breaking out; subsequently ruining the realms around them.
So really, it was no surprise that Amaterasu was less than enthusiastic about the very real prospect of another occurrence such as that taking place today.
In her palace.
With all of her nice shiny things.
"...He's not here." she denied instantly.
"Little Empress. You wouldn't happen to be lying to me, would you?" Abaddon smiled knowingly.
"You must be joking, Honorable
Senior
. Why would I ever consider lying to someone as highly respected as yourself?" she smiled coldly.
Abaddon cackled and gave her a slight nudge.
"Such a dutiful daughter... In fairness, your little fib would have worked if I didn't know your father well enough to be aware of the fact that he never travels outside."
"Then he's asleep."
"With his propensity for paranoia? I don't think so."
Amaterasu felt a vein begin to bubble up in her forehead. The kind that always seemed to make an appearance whenever she spoke to a Tathamet man.
"...What could you possibly want with him? There's no way that he has done anything that would catch your particular brand of attention."
"Of course he hasn't. I simply have something I wish to talk to him about."
"...Which is?" Amaterasu asked.
Abaddon had never lied to Amaterasu, and that was part of the reason for their continued good relationship.
So, when she asked him sincerely what his business with her father was, he answered her honestly.
"I want him to release your mother into my custody."
"..." Amaterasu's jaw fell open.
The prime universe's Izanagi is different from prior universe versions.
After the birth of the demons Raijin and Fujin, Izanagi did not feel that his ex wife's (and sister's) evil could be contained by that simple boulder on earth.
So he relocated her prison here, to the heavenly plane.
He is her sole visiter, warden, and the source of her wrath all in one.
Some believe that captivity has already rendered her insane. Even Izanagi admits that he hasn't heard her speak a word that wasn't a curse in several millennia.
The fear of many is that if she should ever get the opportunity to escape, she would become a greater threat to life and civilization than even Abaddon's children.
But again, that was just a big superstition.
Amaterasu couldn't even begin to understand why Abaddon suddenly got it into his head that such a woman should be released.
"...You're joking, right? Has old age finally eaten away what little remains of your brain?"
"No more than yesterday."
"I'm glad to see that this is funny to you, because it isn't to me." Amaterasu huffed.
At that moment, Ayaana returned to the conversation, having caught Bashenga by forcefully returning him to his child form.
... He did not at all look happy about it.
And judging by the lipgloss smooches on his cheeks and face, he would have quite a lot to say about all of this later.
"Tell us honestly, Amaterasu. You know us better than most. Do you believe that we would have some nefarious scheme planned with your mother and just come in here boldly to ask for her release?" She asked.
"What I believe is irrelevant. I am fully aware of how your appearances work. You could make feel or believe just about anything with only a blink, so is there any merit in asking me such a thing?"
"You would know if we were influencing you, darling. We would be your only thought and fantasy by now."
Amaterasu rolled her eyes. That bit of information wasn't nearly as comforting as the wives thought it was.
"Say that I believe you. What exactly do you want her of all people for?"
Ayaana smiled wryly as she cradled Bash. "She... is supposedly very important to us. Family if you can believe it."
This only made Amaterasu even more sure of her suspicions. "... Have the twelve of you actually started to go insane?"
Abaddon / Ayaana: ""No!""
"Very long ago, before I was even born." Bash interjected.
The mother and father pairing stared at their now pint-sized son.
"...Well regardless of whether you have or haven't, you should know that even if I took you to my father, he wouldn't hand over my mother to you in a million years."
"That is a gross oversimplification."
Suddenly, a mirror on the other side of the hall rippled like the surface of a lake.
At that moment, a man clad in white robes stepped out of the glass mirror.
Izanagi was a tall figure, and handsome for an older god that didn't really try to hide his age.
He moved right in front of Abaddon without bothering to try and hide the tangible dislike in his eyes.
Despite the fact that Abaddon was staring down at him as if he were less than an insect, he didn't seem to be the least bit concerned that something as unfortunate as a fight may occur.
"Abhorrent beast from the dark... I would hope that you would spare me the impropriety of your request and return to whence you came without having to hear the answer you already know you will receive."
