Chapter 435 The Dragoons Release
Now that I think about it, Elithira thought, "I don't actually know where his throne room is, but most castles and kingdoms are similar."
Determined, she approached the entrance where two guards stood. "Good morning. I need to see King Griswald. Can you direct me to the throne room?" she asked with an air of authority.
The guards exchanged glances before one of them responded, "Of course, Lady Elithira. Please follow us."
They led her through the grand halls of the palace, the sound of their footsteps echoing against the floors. She observed the intricate designs and the layout, hoping to memorize the path for future reference.
Eventually, they reached a pair of ornate doors. "The throne room is just beyond here," the guard said, bowing slightly before stepping aside to let her pass.
Elithira took a deep breath and pushed the doors open. Inside, she found King Griswald sitting at his throne, reviewing documents. He looked up as she entered.
"Right on time, as expected for the Daughter of the Demon King," King Griswald said, placing his papers down. Elithira strolled in, her eyes scanning the room.
"And who told you that?" she asked, her tone sharp.
The King chuckled. "A great question. I've known for a long while that you people would come from another world to threaten my own. As was told by my friend, I spent a good amount of time preparing for the arrivals."
Elithira's eyes narrowed. "I am ready to collect Ty's finger now. If you could turn that over along with the Cross Link Blade, I will be on my way. And I will also take the Dragoon off your hands and deliver him away from this world so it's no longer an issue."
The King's chuckle grew deeper, a sinister edge to it. "So many demands," he mused, rising from his throne. "You see, I didn't expect you to be so bold. But then again, Erebos did warn me about your kind."
Elithira stiffened. "Erebos?" she repeated, her voice dangerously low. Experience more tales on empire
"Yes, Erebos," the King confirmed, his smile widening. "He and I have an understanding. This world is far too valuable to be left in the hands of outsiders.
Elithira's heart raced as she processed the revelation. "You've been working with Erebos all along," she said, fury rising in her chest.
"Outsiders?!" Elithira exclaimed, her voice filled with outrage. "Do you have any idea what you're talking about? You have been manipulated by Erebos into doing what he wants! This does not end well for you if you rebel!"
King Griswald's expression hardened. "He said that the real monsters are you all who look down on us. You create the pain and suffering we deal with for generations!"
"That does not tell the full story at all! And I have little time to explain to you, but hand over Ty's finger so I can track him down and find Erebos."
King Griswald sat at his desk, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "If you want the finger, you will have to take it."
As he spoke, the door slid open, revealing a long chamber. A large figure emerged, its crimson red eyes glowing menacingly. Standing at eight feet tall, with black wings marred with burn marks, the creature's presence was terrifying.
Elithira's eyes widened in shock. "You freed the Dragoon?"
The Dragoon, its wings stretching out to their full span, let out a low growl. "You dare challenge the will of King Griswald?" it rumbled, its voice echoing through the chamber.
King Griswald leaned back in his chair, his smile widening. "Yes, I freed the Dragoon. And now, he will ensure that you do not leave this place alive."
Elithira's mind raced. She needed to think quickly. Drawing her weapon, she took a defensive stance. "You've made a grave mistake, King Griswald. This will not end well for you."
King Griswald, with his hands clasped behind his back, stated, "No, I have taken the steps to free my world from the endless suffering that it endures. I will be heralded as a savior!"
Elithira's eyes blazed with anger. "You really think this Dragoon can take me down?!"
King Griswald chuckled. "Of course not, I simply need him to slow you down long enough to give you your sentencing."
The Dragoon, a towering figure with crimson red eyes, blackened wings marred with burn marks, and a muscular, scarred body, launched toward Elithira. His movements were surprisingly agile for his size, each step shaking the ground beneath him. His wings flared out, creating a gust of wind that knocked over anything in its path.
Elithira dodged to the side, her heart pounding. She needed to find a way to disable the Dragoon quickly. As the Dragoon lunged again, Elithira deflected his attack, trying to maneuver closer to the pendant around his neck that seemed to control him.
"Master Dagon and the others, if you will," King Griswald stated, snapping his fingers.
Suddenly, they were all transported to a large arena with sand-covered cobblestones and an expansive array of towers. The sky above was a dark, stormy gray, adding to the ominous atmosphere. Five old men, including Judge Robrick, sat atop the towers, their eyes cold and judgmental, looking down at the scene below.
"Welcome to your trial," Judge Robrick announced, his voice echoing through the arena.
Elithira glanced around, taking in her surroundings. This was not a trial by combat but a trial of conviction, similar to what Ty had undergone. She could see Master Dagon and several other warriors standing by, ready to enforce the judgment.
The Dragoon roared, continuing his assault on Elithira, trying to distract and weaken her. Elithira fought back fiercely, but her focus was split between the immediate threat and the looming trial.
Judge Robrick raised his judge's hammer, and a wave of magical energy emanated from it, binding Elithira in place. "You stand accused of threatening our kingdom and conspiring with dark forces. How do you plead?"
Elithira found a blue cord wrapping around her as she smirked. "You know I'm actively trying not to hurt any of you, but you've really started to piss me off!"
She stretched her arms outward, breaking the binds as the Dragoon, with his eyes glowing red, lunged at her. Elithira smirked, mocking, "To think such a powerful curse would fall to being under control." She dodged the Dragoon's attacks as they came flying in before catching his stretched-out fist and tossing him to the ground.
Summoning her blade, she declared, "You know Father is going to be ecstatic once I deliver your soul to him!"
Judge Robrick's voice boomed from above, "Elithira, Daughter of the Demon King, you are hereby found guilty of being a threat to the Kingdom. I sentence you to life in prison!" He banged the gong again, sealing the judgment.
Elithira turned around, her eyes blazing with fury, and aimed a blast of pure energy at the judge. The force of the blast shook the arena, sending shockwaves through the sand and cobblestones. The elders atop the towers were momentarily stunned by the sheer power of her attack.
As the dust settled, Elithira felt a sharp pain on her wrist. A mark appeared, burning intensely. She looked upward at the man she had attempted to blast, who stood unscathed, his eyes glowing red.
"I see Erebos made it a point to be more annoying than usual," she muttered through gritted teeth.
Her strength faltered as she dropped to one knee, her energy waning. The Dragoon loomed over her, now holding her own blade. He brought it swiftly down toward her neck.
Unable to fully react, she barely managed to bring her hand up to catch the blade. The impact drove her into the ground, and she struggled to hold off the force.
"What the hell is this feeling?!" Elithira gasped, her voice strained. "I feel like my body is being ripped apart and warped."
The pain intensified, the mark on her wrist glowing brighter as if feeding on her very life force. She could feel her strength draining away, the dark magic of the mark spreading through her veins.
Elithira looked up as the King stood on a high podium above everyone else, his hands clasped behind his back, watching with one eye red and the other his normal color. Before she could react, she took another shot to the chest, rolling along the ground.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Coughing as blood trickled from her lips, she muttered, "There is no reason this should be affecting me. I am above independent crystal powers. I have pure energy coursing through me. The only explanation is Erebos or someone else is enhancing their powers right now."
She gripped her chest, thinking, "There should be a way to break the Dragoon's hold, but how…" As she pondered, the Dragoon dived in again, slicing at her before delivering a crushing strike. She rolled along the ground, coming to a stop on one knee fifty feet away from him.
She heard the Hammer hit again, and she felt herself begin to transform.
