Chapter 456 – Void Box
"And so, I am back!"
— Took you long enough
— Welcome back!
— Yooo! It's been a week, Breeze!
[LovelyOtter has donated 500 diamonds!]
[Welcome back! I enjoyed the concert and the event!]
[Stinky has donated 1,000 diamonds!]
[It's boring without your livestream, glad you are back.]
"Thank you Otter and Stinky. It can't be helped, I am too tired and have a job out of the city. I only returned 3 days ago, but decided to rest with Lily first." Max explained, leaning his back against the chair. "And look, my Punchtube still uploads everyday, no?"
It had been a week since the concert, it was now 16th July.
Just as Max explained to the chat, he was resting. He mainly wanted to stay with Lily and tried how long she could be in VR, and found out that she could only game 2 to 3 hours a day before getting really tired due to her condition.
Now that everything was stable, he returned to streaming and would play another masterpiece of a game.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Actually, there are a few games I wanted to try, but let's hear your opinion guys."
Max pulled out a game list, something he had prepared for today, and put it beside him. The camera panned out, making sure the screen was visible to the viewers.
"Because of my atrocious experience with magic…"
— Atrocious experience lol
— He got traumatic kekw
— I can't deny that, he grinded that long only to quit because of the strange puzzle
— The lack of hint is really frustrating
"... I want to play another game with a magic challenge. Leaving it unfinished leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I want to finish at least a game, so… I prepared this list."
The chat spammed with questions and comments, and Max waited until the chat slowed down, then started explaining.
He was not sure which one would interest him, and so he left it up to his viewers to decide. He listed off 3 games from the list, each with a short description and a screenshot.
The chat exploded once more as the viewers argued about what game Max should play.
Some recommended games from the list, some even suggested games that were not on the list.
After waiting for 10 minutes, Max was not sure which game would win, so he decided to let his viewers vote.
He put up a poll for his viewers to choose.
The choices were:
<Magic Chess: A turn-based strategy game with magic elements>
<Mysteries of the Deep: An adventure game based on deep sea exploration>
<Void Box: A first person adventure horror game set in a ghost town> Experience new stories on empire
All had a self-explanatory description. The third one was the most interesting. It was a story about an exorcist combating ghosts.
And the choice was made.
— Void Box seems interesting. We can see Breeze get scared lol
— lolol, right. The ghost is pretty scary
— Yeah, choose Void Box, Breeze! It sounds fun
— Buy it!
Max looked at the chat and nodded. Void Box, a horror game with magic elements. He was quite interested in it too.
"Alright, I will buy it!"
He bought the game and downloaded it. The game's launch start was slightly different from other games. It had ghost elements and lightning framing the start button.
Without hesitation, he entered the game Void Box. His sight twisted, he saw a spiral in front of him before realizing he was standing in the middle of a Victorian city.
Rain fell down on him as he raised his hand to feel it.
This was something new. Max looked around and noticed that he was in fact, not alone. An instruction window appeared beside him, and there was also someone sitting away on a bench in front of a park not far from him.
Ignoring the man, he read the letters written on the floating window.
[Fear has spread across the old London City. Find the cause. It's your job as an exorcist to chase fear and cure people's mind.]
[Objective: Follow the tutorial.]
Easy to understand. A guide light appeared in the form of a floating blue fire, fitting the strange atmosphere of the game.
"Okay, this game is already better with this guide. Let's see… Would I change my mind later?" Max said as he began to follow the fire.
— Game has guide = better than the Spellbound Academy lol
— It's so easy to please you
— No wonder this game has a good review. It has guides. *nod nod*
— The graphics and effects are so good. I totally am buying this game
— The problem is… How is the enemy?
Max walked through the dark city of London, entering a dark alleyway between two tall buildings. Heaps of trash were lying on the sides. The smell was slightly bearable because it was washed away by the rain already.
The fire guide ended in the middle of the alleyway. When Max arrived at that place, something shone from between heaps of trash.
His eyes shone at that light.
"They have clues!" He exclaimed, jumping toward the light like a moth into fire.
— He's like a kid finding a new toy.
— He's so cute. I want to have him at home
— LilyPixel thought otherwise. Sing better than the Diva before getting him home
— Awww, I want to screenshot this so badly.
Max read the chat but ignored them. He looked between the trash and found the shiny thing. It was a card. More specifically, a tarot card.
"What is thi–"
[Objective updated. You have found the source of fear. Exorcise it!]
As he was thrown in confusion by the sudden message, a howl rang from behind him. The wind became wild. It swirled around the alleyway at one spot, sending all the trash flying in the sky.
Alert, Max stepped backward and looked at where the wind was, shielding his face with his arm. Through the gap, he was able to see it condensed into a humanoid form and floated mid-air. Its head was elongated as if it was being stretched.
When looking closely, it wasn't only its face that was elongated, but also its whole body. It was compressed into a stretch.
"Zuzuzuzu."
[Ding! Tutorial Start!]
[Defeat the wind spirit with an exorcism tool!]
