“Gao Yun? The 51st student from Class 13?” The kind Gao Ming thought quickly, “Is he our classmate?”

“This name is very familiar to me. We should know him, but I can’t remember.” The normal Gao Ming shook his head. The old speakers had bad quality. The broadcast was intermittent and cut off often.

The leader of Team One walked to the two. He was serious. “Gao Yun suddenly appeared at Han De Private School. All information about him has been destroyed by Situ An. This man covered the entire East City in tragedy using his own power. The investigation centre had no choice but to retreat from the East City.”

“Then, who is stronger between him and the complete version of me?” The kind Gao Ming was purely curious.

“How can I put this? Both of you are thorns in the headquarters’ side. Not one is worse than the other,” The man’s eyes stayed on the speaker. “I overestimated myself. I thought I was on your level. But I’m completely helpless inside here. Gao Yun, however, manages to find the broadcast room and has broken some of the Gods’ rules.”

“Don’t give up.” The kind Gao Ming comforted him. “Look at us. We’re normal people now. Our memories are scattered. Our situation is worse than yours.”

“You came in alone and managed to tussle with two Gods. It’s a miracle that you’re still alive…” The man didn’t wish to continue. “Let’s listen to the broadcast.”

No one knew how Gao Yun did it. While most people were losing their memories, he was not only unaffected, but he also managed to locate the building’s broadcast system. The static became sharper. The old wires could burn at any time, so Gao Yun spoke fast. He clued everyone in quickly.

“One, no matter what you’ve forgotten, hide your present well. That is the most important thing in your life.

“Three, hiding in the room is suicide. With each passing hour, your hunger will double. Have you wondered where are the original tenants of the two neighbourhoods?

“Four, Gods are not invincible. You are still alive not because of Gods’ clemency but because Gods doesn’t have the power to deal with all of you.

“Five, those who are willing to believe me can come to Prosperity Neighbourhood’s underground parking lot or the Connecting Lobby on the third floor of Everlasting Life Apartments.”

Once the five rules were given, the wires lit up. The broadcast blurred. No one could hear what Gao Yun said near the end.

“The connecting lobby on the third floor. Should we go there?” The kind Gao Ming turned to the leader of Team One. Even though he was more mature than people his age, he was still a high school student.

“The remaining survivors will go there. I need to share the news with the other security members.” The man had made his decision. The kind Gao Ming couldn’t leave the building, so he chose to stick to the man temporarily.

“We should stick together.” Doctor Lee was not that powerful. His most powerful ability was to find the best teammate. Compared to being on his own, it was better for him to follow Gao Ming. He knew how powerful Gao Ming was.

“Okay.” The leader of Team One nodded. “The second hour will arrive soon. I can sense our memory turning blurry. Our past might shatter like puzzles. If we stay together, we can remind each other of our pasts.”

Ignoring those still hiding in their rooms, the man led the team to the third floor. Everlasting Life Apartments consisted of several separate blocks. They were connected through a lobby on the third floor.

“Do not show your faces no matter what. Observe first.” The man checked the masks of the two Gao Mings. After making sure they were safe, they came to the lobby through the third safety corridor. The place was called a lobby, but it had been taken over by illegal e-bikes and trash. The place was stinky and had many hidden hazards. When the leader of Team One arrived, others were already there. They moved in groups. Some had homemade weapons, while others carried their presents.

They gathered because of Gao Yun’s broadcast, but none of them trusted each other.

“Can that Gao Yun be a liar? I don’t remember his name among the list of Class 13.”

“Watch your mouth.” His teammate quickly reminded him. “The leader of the student council has so many people with superpowers working for him. I heard his organisation has infiltrated the entire East City and forced the investigation centre out.”

“That’s right. I heard he came out of a Level Four Anomaly. However, shouldn’t his people be at Prosperity Neighbourhood? Why is he here?”

The investigation centre set up two venues for this anomaly. One was in the east city, and the other was in the old city. They were traps meant for different people. However, Gao Ming and Gao Yun both had their own plans. As more and more people gathered on the third floor, the leader of Team One became worried. If they stayed there for too long, the ghosts might come over! The ugly ghost would get stronger as it ate more people.

“Why is there no one from the investigation centre?” The leader of Team One frowned.

Footsteps came from the corridors. More people entered the lobby. People were alert around each other as they waited for Gao Yun to appear. About ten seconds later, Doctor Lee suddenly waved his hands and shouted, “Fan Li!”

On the other side, Fan Li and a young man who was wrapped in clothes walked out of the safety corridor. Fan Li didn’t respond to Doctor Lee, probably because he didn’t hear him.

Behind the two was a woman wearing the red student council badge. She stood before a high school student, studying everyone coldly.

“The badge of the student council?!” The leader of Team One furrowed his brows further. “Isn’t that Liu Yi from Class 13?”

“Liu Yi? Where?” Both the kind and normal Gao Mings looked across the lobby. Liu Yi looked professional and sharp in her suit. She was already pretty in high school. However, other than the narcissistic Qian Junran, no one dared to confess to her.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“It’s really her.” The kind Gao Ming looked happy. “She is as pretty as she was in high school.”

“The person behind her…” The normal Gao Ming couldn’t see clearly, “Is he wearing our school uniform?”

The lobby’s lights went out and came back on. A light scent of blood floated over from the neighbouring building. Soon, there were heavy footsteps. Yuan Hui walked over from the corridor that connected to that building while dragging a dead body in his blood-drenched uniform.

“Gao Yun, is it? The third target has appeared.”
