Chapter 149: Crazy Sister, Horror Smile!
Qin Nuo lifted the curtain of another partition and frowned.
There was another hospital bed, and on it lay a patient—or more accurately, a corpse. The body had been dissected, with many parts removed, creating a gruesome scene that made one feel nauseous.
It was likely Liao Chen's previous patient.
Qin Nuo didn't dwell on it, as he heard the sound of the doorknob turning. Glancing around, the only place to hide was a secret compartment under the desk.
The space in the compartment was limited, but fortunately, Li Xiaoming was small in stature, so Qin Nuo easily squeezed in.
"Die!!"
Soon, he heard Liao Chen's voice. He expected the sound of a fierce fight, but instead, there was an eerie silence.
Qin Nuo was puzzled.
Who had killed whom?
Crash!!The curtain of the partition where Qin Nuo was hiding was suddenly pulled open, followed by footsteps echoing in the room.
Thud, roll, roll...
Something fell to the ground and rolled right in front of the desk where Qin Nuo was hiding.
Upon closer inspection, it was Liao Chen's head, which had rolled under the desk, its face staring directly at Qin Nuo, eyes filled with disbelief.
From Qin Nuo's perspective, he soon saw a pair of white shoes approaching, and a hand reached down to pick up Liao Chen's head.
A deep voice, tinged with disappointment, said, "Why did it run off on its own? Was it not tied properly?"
"What a pity, such a good body, now incomplete."
Then, the footsteps moved away, seemingly intending to place the head back on the bed, but Qin Nuo heard a "bang."
It seemed like the invincibility charm had been triggered, causing a disappearance.
Soon, Qin Nuo felt a strong Ghost Aura and heard the sound of things being smashed, accompanied by a terrifying roar of rage.
"Probably because the patient suddenly disappeared, it went berserk," Qin Nuo thought to himself.
The commotion continued, with things being smashed and thrown. For Qin Nuo, hiding under the desk, the passing time felt like a long torment.
"Isn't it tiring? Why not go out and find another prey?"
Just as Qin Nuo thought this, the violent noise suddenly stopped.
It was as if everything had calmed down, but Qin Nuo had an inexplicable sense of unease.
He heard a murmuring voice: "The tape is cut, the scalpel has been tampered with..."
Halfway through, it seemed to have discovered something: "Why is there another scent in the air?"
Qin Nuo's nerves tightened involuntarily, and he cursed inwardly: "Could it really smell my scent?"
Even a dog's nose wouldn't be this sensitive, right?
Then came Dr. Park's sinister laughter, filled with uncontrollable excitement, echoing in every corner of the infirmary: "Student, are you here to visit your good friend? Your little friend just left, aren't you going to follow?"
"Don't hide, I know where you are."
"Come out, I have candy. Hide and seek is boring, how about we play another game?"
As soon as he finished speaking, there was the sound of items being rummaged through.
Qin Nuo frowned and squeezed himself further inside.
A pair of white shoes walked back and forth in Qin Nuo's line of sight, seemingly growing more agitated as they failed to find anyone.
When the shoes passed by the desk again, they suddenly stopped. A briefcase was set down with a click, and a bloody saw was taken out.
Then, the feet took a few steps forward, stopping right in front of Qin Nuo. He could clearly see the bloodstains on the white shoes.
"Student, your hide-and-seek skills are terrible. In this room, there's only one place to hide."
"You're under the desk, aren't you?"
Qin Nuo's expression darkened.
He had been discovered after all.
Was this instance going to end in failure?
"Since I've been found, I'll have to kill this doctor. Liao Chen didn't even have a chance to call for help, so he must be strong. Brother, what do you think?"
The Blood-Eyed Ghost replied indifferently, "Crush with two fingers."
A hand suddenly grabbed the leg of the desk, its skin rough like the bark of an old tree.
A head slowly peeked under the desk, a mocking smile on its lips: "Little rat, caught you, huh?"
Creak.
Just as he was about to be exposed, Qin Nuo raised his right hand, but the infirmary door suddenly opened, followed by a girl's voice: "Doctor, my stomach feels a bit uncomfortable, can you take a look?"
The voice sounded shy, with a hint of trembling.
Dr. Park's head, which had been peeking down, retracted, and his voice became unusually enthusiastic and excited: "Of course, that's what a doctor is supposed to do."
"If it's a stomachache, it might be your period, or maybe irregular eating has upset your stomach."
"Either way, lie down on the bed first, and the teacher will take a good look at you."
With that, he put the bloody saw back into the toolbox.
The girl seemed a bit scared and asked softly, "Will it hurt?"
"Of course not, I'm a very gentle doctor."
Despite his words, his horrific laughter accompanied them, unable to be suppressed.
Qin Nuo was slightly taken aback.
A student came at this moment?
But judging by the situation, something was likely to happen next.
He wasn't sure whether to call the girl unlucky or himself incredibly lucky.
"Perhaps I can use this opportunity to escape the infirmary."
"The role-playing task said being discovered would mean failure, but if they only know someone entered the infirmary, not who, would it still count as a failure?"
Qin Nuo pondered, deciding to take a gamble.
At this point, the female student and Dr. Park seemed to have moved to another partition, and Qin Nuo cautiously tried to peek out from under the desk.
"Miss, why aren't you lying down? Come on, take off your top so the doctor can examine you..."
"Hmm?"
The suggestive voice continued in Qin Nuo's ear, but then he heard a soft exclamation.
Following that was the sound of things being knocked over, and various strange and horrifying noises erupted in the infirmary.
Qin Nuo was baffled.
What happened?
Did the female student realize something was wrong and fight back?
The strange commotion outside left Qin Nuo guessing, but he didn't dare to venture out.
Soon, the noise stopped.
As Qin Nuo was still confused, a bloodied hand suddenly grabbed the leg of the desk, appearing before him.
Startled, Qin Nuo saw a head peek down.
The hair was messy, the features were decent, but the face was covered in red spots and pimples.
Qin Nuo recognized the girl; she was the one who had been secretly watching him in the hallway the other day, and when discovered, had shyly jumped down the stairs.
Seeing Qin Nuo's shocked expression, the pockmarked girl chuckled and said, "It's okay now, you can come out."
Qin Nuo's expression stiffened.
The pockmarked girl, seeing his reaction, stood up and took a few steps back.
After a moment's hesitation, Qin Nuo emerged from under the desk. The air in the infirmary was suddenly filled with a nauseating smell of blood.
Turning his head, Qin Nuo saw the curtain stained with blood.
On the bed in the other partition lay a person, obscured by the curtain, but clearly in a bloody mess, having died a terrible death.
To avoid feeling sick, Qin Nuo didn't lift the curtain to look, but from the dangling hand, he knew it was Dr. Park.
This girl had actually killed the doctor?!
Qin Nuo looked at the pockmarked girl in shock.
Her hair was disheveled, but she grinned, revealing white teeth: "Don't be afraid, it can't get up anymore."
Qin Nuo looked at her and hesitantly asked, "Are you Li Qianqian?"
The pockmarked girl nodded, her murky eyes shining brightly, as if she was thrilled that Qin Nuo, or rather Li Xiaoming, remembered her name.
Qin Nuo could basically confirm that this Li Qianqian was Li Xiaoming's admirer, and she was utterly infatuated with him.
However, considering Li Xiaoming's reputation as a playboy, Li Qianqian, despite having decent features, was covered in pimples and dressed sloppily, so it was unlikely he would accept her.
After all, even Huang Xia, who was pretty but just a bit short, was treated coldly by Li Xiaoming.
Thinking of this, Qin Nuo's expression turned cold as he said, "Have you been following me?"
Li Qianqian didn't deny it, nodding earnestly: "Yes."
"You said as long as I don't bother you, it's fine. I saw you were in danger, so I came in."
"You were afraid of that doctor, right? I took care of him for you, so it doesn't count as bothering you, right?"
Qin Nuo blinked and replied indifferently, "It doesn't."
"Can you leave now?"
Li Qianqian didn't show any signs of sadness or disappointment, obediently nodding: "Don't worry, if anyone tries to hurt you, I'll crush them first!"
With that, she lowered her head, looking embarrassed.
"Everyone at school, whether classmates or teachers, shunned me because of my looks, except you. You stood up for me and taught them a lesson."
"You even said... I was your woman."
"I'll always remember this kindness, and I'll do anything you ask..."
Qin Nuo was taken aback.
Damn.
Were those Li Xiaoming's lines?
Although it was impolite to think so, Qin Nuo had gathered from the notes what kind of person Li Xiaoming was.
There was absolutely no reason for him to like a girl with a pockmarked face and sloppy appearance!
Not daring to look at Qin Nuo's expression, Li Qianqian blushed as she spoke, covering her eyes with her hands, but peeking through her fingers to see Qin Nuo's reaction.
Qin Nuo cleared his throat, his expression cold: "Let's not talk about the past. Can you leave now?"
Li Qianqian nodded, not daring to disobey Li Xiaoming's words, and quickly left the infirmary.
"The relationship between Li Xiaoming and Li Qianqian seems more complicated than it appears."
Qin Nuo murmured, glancing at the partition, then exited the infirmary as well.
As soon as he stepped out, the game's announcement sounded in his mind.
"Congratulations, Player, for completing the role-playing task, earning a 10% role-playing score! Additional instance rating will be calculated after the instance ends!"
"No main quest clues?" Qin Nuo shook his head. Without clues, starting the main quest would be difficult.
"If there are none, I should investigate Li Xiaoming's family situation first."
"Ding ding ding!!"
Coincidentally, the bell for the end of the school day rang.
Qin Nuo returned to the classroom, grabbed his backpack, and headed home.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The route home was familiar, only a few hundred meters away, and in about ten minutes, Qin Nuo was back at his house.
The atmosphere at home was still cold and eerie.
The old fan creaked as it turned, and in the corner by the table, his father was still holding a newspaper.
"Mom, I'm back!"
As soon as Qin Nuo entered, he tossed his backpack onto the sofa, kicked off his shoes and socks, and shouted into the living room, then headed to the fridge to grab a bottle of juice, drinking it in large gulps.
These weren't Qin Nuo's habits, but rather mimicking Li Xiaoming's usual behavior.
The father reading the newspaper suddenly seemed angry, scolding, "Brat, are you treating me like air?"
Qin Nuo ignored him.
According to the notes, Li Xiaoming harbored a lot of resentment towards his father, never even calling him "father," though the reason was unclear.
Naturally, Qin Nuo wouldn't call him that either, nor would he spare him a glance.
His mother emerged from the kitchen, still wearing an apron. Seeing her son return, her icy face broke into a smile: "You're back. Wash your hands first; I've cut some fruit for you."
"After you eat the fruit, do your homework. I'll boil some water, and you can take a bath when it's ready."
She smiled warmly, as if she always planned out what Li Xiaoming should do next, and he had to follow her instructions.
Qin Nuo was used to this strong sense of control and responded before heading to the bathroom.
After washing his hands, he returned to find a plate of fruit on the table.
It looked like normal fruit. Qin Nuo picked up a piece with a toothpick, put it in his mouth, and, after a couple of bites, made a face of enjoyment: "The fruit is delicious."
His mother stood by, smiling: "I'm glad you like it. By the way, did you eat the lunchbox from school? Take it out, and I'll wash it for you."
Qin Nuo took the lunchbox out of his backpack and handed it over.
His mother took the lunchbox and smiled as she went back to the kitchen.
However, she soon returned and sat down beside Qin Nuo again.
Qin Nuo was puzzled, and his mother placed the empty lunchbox on the table, squinting her eyes with a smile that now seemed a bit eerie.
"Son, you didn't eat the lunch in the lunchbox, did you?"
What do you think?
