Chapter 946 Tablets (1)
Chapter 946 Tablets (1)
What happened after the meeting was anti-climactic.
Because Kyran had never been to the Kingdom of Cretea, he could not warp them there. Instead, he gave Euan a Transmission Scroll and had him use it to transport all three of them to where Anshel was.
After that, Cyneah made quick work of changing Anshel since he had no way of retaliating.
Similar to Aran, Anshel fell unconscious right after Cyneah cast her spell.
Once they dealt with Anshel, they immediately noticed a change in Somuli. The Sovereign's Cradle, which had been invisible to the naked eye, appeared and covered the vast sky. Apart from that, they noticed a vast amount of magic energy erupted, which came from the direction of the Eidum's border.
If others felt that eruption of magic energy, they would not really guess it came from the Eidum's border. The only reason Kyran, Euan, and Cyneah knew it came there was because they recognized the magic energy and also knew that someone was attempting an ascension right there.
Sensing Nachum's magic energy, Kyran heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, their assumption that Anshel's fake Sovereign position was the reason the old man could not ascend was correct. If not, they would have a huge headache trying to find the cause.
The change in Somuli was also felt outside.
Because of Flos's and Obstruction's death, several Sovereign factions were on their way to Somuli to take advantage of the situation. They believed that with the two out of the picture, the deal their faction established with the Somuli's Sovereign would no longer be carried out. Thus, they now had a chance to negotiate with the latter.
Apart from that, these Sovereign factions were there to reinforce their representative, who had been engaged in a fight with Flos's subordinates. Their representatives survived; however, they could not leave the plane because Flos's subordinates captured them.
For the record, if not for the Fates' appearance, which robbed them of their awareness for a few minutes, these representatives would not have been captured. The problem was that they regained their awareness a few seconds later than Flos's subordinates and ended up immobile. The latter few then took advantage of that to seal their movements and capture them. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Flos's subordinates did not kill these representatives simply because they believed capturing them alive and using them to pressure the other Sovereign factions were better. This was especially true because they had lost two powerful Sovereigns. Not to mention, one of them was the leader of their faction.
One of the remaining leaders of Flos's faction was also en route, along with no less than ten Sovereigns. Their purpose was to, first, reassure the Sovereign of Bulwark that they could still carry out his demands. Second was to deal with the other Sovereign factions who believed they now stood a chance against them with Flos and Obstruction dead.
The action of the other Sovereign factions infuriated the two remaining leaders of Flos's faction— especially the one who was en route to Somuli.
The name of this leader was Sovereign of Chains.
To be honest, while Flos and Obstruction were considered powerful Sovereigns, that did not mean their faction would be crippled from losing them. The other two leaders were similarly powerful and could wreck a plane all by themselves. The only reason Flos preferred to take along Obstruction all the time was the latter's innate ability and magic.
Chains could be said to have similar capabilities as Obstruction. However, the latter's capabilities focused on metaphysical magic attacks, while the former focused on the physical.
Obstruction could also sneak attack his enemies, but Chains could not. Regardless of their difference, the latter was not any weaker than the former.
For this reason, Chains was truly enraged at the other Sovereign factions. He wanted to quell the rumor that their faction was now crippled after losing Flos and Obstrucion.
Unfortunately, before they could arrive in Somuli, they felt a surge of magic energy from the inside. Not only that, but they knew that the only time such a surge of magic energy could occur was when a plane was about to birth its new Sovereign.
What was going on?
This question flashed through the minds of every Sovereign within close proximity of Somuli.
Flos's subordinates decided to investigate. However, before they could even do anything, they were expelled from the plane with their magic cores or something similar damaged.
The representatives of the other Sovereign factions also experienced the same. However, they did not care much about getting fatally injured as long as they could escape from captivity.
With Flos's subordinates receiving a blow to their magic cores or similar, they failed to maintain the seals on their captives, allowing them to escape.
What happened next was also anticlimactic.
After retrieving their captured representatives, the Sovereign factions decided to retreat. Their decision was mainly influenced by the sudden surge of magic energy from Somuli. If their representatives had not been expelled from there, they would have doubted their initial doubt that Somuli had just birthed its new Sovereign. But since it did, then its new Sovereign's stance was quite clear: he did not welcome outsiders.
If this was the case, then they had to approach Somuli's new Sovereign differently.
Alas, to think that all their research would have been in vain just because Somuli had birthed a new Sovereign.
However, why would Somuli birth a new Sovereign? Did the previous new Sovereign die? How? When?
Doubts swirled in their minds. But in the end, they could not stay and look for the answers. Since the new Sovereign had no intentions of welcoming outsiders, then they could only retreat. If they insist on talking to him or her, they might appear forceful and anger him or her.
Chains was also conflicted. He had come prepared to deal with the other Sovereigns and assure Somuli's Sovereign. But then Somuli suddenly birthed a new Sovereign?
What exactly happened in Somuli?
First, Flos and Obstruction were killed, and then a new Sovereign appeared.
Chains received the report from their subordinates, who assisted Flos with their endeavor. They knew that Flos had found the Macabre Glacier and wanted to capture it.
The other Sovereigns got wind of Flos's movements. However, they had yet to learn what they were up to. Nonetheless, they did assume that Flos's movements had something to do with the deal he had with Somuli's Sovereign and decided to intervene.
In the end, before a victor could be determined, Flos and Obstruction had escaped and were chased by a man in armor. Finally, the Fates appeared, and they were all robbed of their awareness.
They did not know what happened after. Only that they noticed Flos's and Obstruction's aura disappearing, they also saw the huge human silhouette and believed whoever summoned it was the one who killed the two.
In any case, with all the unanswered questions and missing information, they could not appropriately come up with a good plan.
Their best choice was to retreat and observe Somuli's situation from the outside.
Feeling vexed about the unexpected turn of events, Chains had no choice but to order his people to retreat as well. He did not want to wage unnecessary war against Somuli. With this in mind, he went after the escaping Sovereigns.
Chains did not want to wage war with Somuli's new Sovereign, but that did not mean he would allow their enemies to escape.
Looking at Somuli's plane one more time, Chains and ten other Sovereigns left and chased after the escaping Sovereigns.
As soon as Chains and his group left, the space close to Somuli distorted, and a huge floating ship emerged.
This ship was none other than Loar's creation, and on the deck, Axil, Loar, and Wings could be seen.
A figure then appeared behind them, revealing Dusk, with a pale complexion, kneeling on the floor.
"What is the current situation?" Axil asked without looking at Dusk.
Dusk struggled to stand. But then, a faint green light enveloped his whole body, and his complexion instantly recovered.
"I am also confused," he admitted while he stood up.
Axil frowned slightly. She turned to look at him and asked, "You said the Fates had come."
Dusk nodded, "Yes. Right after Dark Sage killed Flos and Obstruction."
Axil's eyes widened.
Loar and Wings also looked at Dusk in disbelief.
"He killed them?" Axil asked.
Fearing his report would be intercepted, Dusk did not include the information about Flos and Obstruction's killer. Although Axil had her doubts, she did not think Kyran would do something that would make him stand out.
"Yes," Dusk said. "I only saw what happened from afar, but it was definitely Dark Sage. Then the Fates appeared, and my head went blank."
"Fates have the ability to rob you of your senses upon their arrival. Basically, they did not want anyone to know of their appearance. But because you are all outsiders, you managed to regain your awareness faster than the inhabitants of the plane."
"More or less. But I didn't know why the Fates had come."
"We'll find out soon," Axil assured them. "Have you tried contacting Kyran?"
"I wanted to, but before I could do anything, I got expelled."
