Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Medusa's Talent, Traversing the Tower of Death
Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Medusa's Talent, Traversing the Tower of Death
Medusa recalled the recent encounter with Senren in the sewers when they had shaken hands. It was then that Senren had left his mark on her!
"Damn it!" Medusa cursed angrily, realizing that, as usual, she was the one who tricked others, but this time, Senren had outsmarted her.
Senren remained calm, his voice indifferent. "Medusa, I'll give you one more chance. If you're imprisoned in the Tower of Death and can escape, I'll let you go."
"No!" Medusa's face changed, and she quickly rejected him. "You'd be better off killing me!"
She had already learned that John and the others were imprisoned in the Tower of Death, and they would definitely not let her go.
These individuals were not weak, and with her current state of transformation causing backlash, she was no match for them. If she fell into their hands, she would likely meet a grim fate.
Her greatest fear wasn't John and the others, but rather another prisoner in the Tower of Death—a Ten-Star Emperor, the Sea God Jaka!
"Medusa, you have no say in this." Senren dismissed her with a wave of his hand, signaling his Black Magicians to restrain Medusa and drag her away.
In the dark, grimy sewer, only Senren and a figure hidden in the shadows remained.
The Shadow King, one of the seven monarchs of the Realm of Chaos.
He looked toward Senren, respectfully speaking, "Master, why not just kill him? He's recognized my identity. If he escapes, it could jeopardize our future plans."
"Don't worry, he won't escape." Senren's face showed confidence. The reason he hadn't killed Medusa was because of a secret.
The Sea God Jaka was the first to merge with World-in-Hand, but the artifact didn't reside within him. Senren suspected it had something to do with Medusa's Endless Desert.
"By the way," Senren suddenly recalled, turning toward the Shadow King. "Let's change our plan a bit. In three months, during the King's Conference, we'll eliminate the other five monarchs in one go."
"What?" The Shadow King gasped in shock. "Master, the Nine Phoenix Emperor will also be attending this conference. We may not be able to match him."
The Nine Phoenix Emperor was one of the four Emperors, a late-stage Ten-Star powerhouse, and his strength was terrifying.
Senren sneered coldly. "What's there to fear? Even a Ten-Star Emperor is no match for us. Do you really think they rule this world? Just follow my instructions, and everything will be fine."
Without waiting for a response, Senren vanished with a flash.
...
Tower of Death
Immortal King and the others were scattered like headless chickens, desperately searching for a way to reach the next level of the Tower of Death.
They had no clues, but with John not speaking, they didn't dare to stop.
John summoned Tracy, Ice Talker, and Avis to join in the search.
Yet, they still came up empty-handed.
John couldn't help but think of Sini-the Powers of the Underworld could sense the surrounding space.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
If only Sini were here, maybe there would be a solution.
"Godslayer." Sword Demon approached and said, "This seems to be an independent space; there's no way to find any cracks."
John sighed in frustration. He too had noticed it. Even with his understanding of space law, he couldn't find any flaws in this place.
The only solution might be to wait for the teleportation portal to appear on its own.
But as Immortal King had mentioned, once the teleportation portal opened, it wouldn't appear again for a while.
John couldn't afford to be trapped here, so he attempted to use Creation and Destruction, hoping to destroy this space.
But this place was incredibly stable, and it possessed a strange Power of Laws that could not be destroyed.
For a moment, John found himself at a loss.
Buzz!
At that moment, a faint fluctuation of spatial energy swept through the area. The group sensed it clearly, but it soon disappeared.
"Master, someone has been brought in," Immortal King quickly reported.
John sensed a familiar aura.
"Medusa!" Sword Demon shouted, his fury igniting, and he immediately charged toward the
source.
Without hesitation, John followed suit.
At this point, Medusa was in a disheveled state, his energy in turmoil. He had just gone through a painful transformation, and his strength was severely weakened. He was no match
for any of them.
"Human, stop! We can talk!" Medusa hurriedly called out.
"Talk to your mother!" Sword Demon roared in fury. It was because of this traitor that they had been captured and thrown into the Tower of Death.
Whoosh!
A fierce wind howled as a sharp blade of light descended.
"Get lost!" Medusa's anger flared. He immediately transformed into his true form and entangled with them. A golden ring of light enveloped the area, attempting to trap them once
again.
Whoosh!
The wind howled again, and a terrifying pressure filled the air. John immediately activated his divine skill, Heaven and Earth Transformation. His longsword howled as it struck down hard, shattering the dolmen-like ring.
His strength had grown now, and Medusa's trap was no longer a threat.
With both John and Immortal King joining the battle, Medusa stood no chance. He was
blasted away with tremendous force, his injuries worsening.
"Human, I was also deceived by Senren! I can help you escape!" Medusa hurriedly pleaded, desperation in his voice.
"Hmm?" John frowned, his longsword halting just in front of Medusa. He didn't trust him at
all.
He recalled the warning from Great Bear. If they had trusted Medusa from the beginning, they wouldn't have been captured.
"Master," Immortal King recognized Medusa and quickly spoke up. "This guy has escaped
from here before."
"Master?"
Medusa was stunned. He knew Immortal King, but this guy had actually acknowledged John
as his master?
"You escaped from here?" John eyed him skeptically.
Medusa nodded quickly, relief washing over him.
He wasn't afraid of John and the others. Once his injuries were healed, he had full confidence
in killing them.
John frowned, no longer trusting him. He spoke coldly, "I won't kill you, but you will acknowledge me as your master."
"What?" Medusa exclaimed in anger, his face contorted with rage. "Human, no way."
"You don't have the luxury of bargaining with me right now!" John sneered. He wouldn't kill Medusa, but making him suffer a bit was definitely not out of the question.
"Go on, teach him a good lesson, just leave him a breath of life," John said coldly. Sword Demon and Immortal King immediately moved to surround Medusa, launching a series of
punches and kicks.
They had been trapped in the Tower of Death for who knows how long, and their frustrations had built up over the years. Their only source of entertainment was tormenting newcomers. Having just been humiliated by John, it was the perfect time to vent their anger on Medusa. "Bastard, stop!" The screams echoed through the area.
Medusa's injuries were severe, and he was no match for the others. His painful wails filled the
air.
"Human..." He had realized that all the monsters here had already been subdued by John. Panicking, he hastily tried to explain, "It's not that I don't want to acknowledge you as my master, I've already pledged allegiance to someone else. If you don't believe me, I can swear on my soul that I will help you and your group escape from here." "Hmm? Stop." John halted the others and looked at the battered Medusa, who was now covered in bruises and blood. He asked, "Who is your master?"
Medusa spat out a mouthful of blood and shook his head. "I cannot say."
John furrowed his brow. To have a nine-star powerhouse swear allegiance, it was likely
someone at the level of an Emperor.
However, John wasn't overly interested. He coldly said, "Swear your oath."
Medusa finally let out a sigh of relief, not daring to play any more tricks. He quickly swore on
his soul that he would help John and his group escape.
He looked at John and said, "Human, can you trust me now?"
"Hmph, I don't trust you," John replied, warning him, "If you try anything again, I won't
spare you."
Medusa forced a smile, shaking his head repeatedly.
John ignored him and asked, "How do we get out of here?"
Medusa hastily answered, "It's simple. Open the space passages leading to other levels of the
Tower of Death. There's a chance the passage leading out of here will open."
John was surprised. "You can open the teleportation passage?"
Medusa nodded. He didn't waste any more time with words. The power of space law surged
around him, and his snake-like tail slashed through the air, opening a space rift and revealing
a teleportation passage.
It was a special space talent!
John fixed his gaze on Medusa, a fleeting hint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes. He wondered if killing this creature would grant him this ability.
But he didn't dare take the risk just yet. He still needed Medusa to help them leave.
If they didn't plunder this space talent, they might be trapped here forever. Medusa sensed John's thoughts and, offering a flattering smile, quickly reminded him, "Human, this teleportation passage is random. We might encounter other strong beings along the way, so we need to be cautious."
"Let's go." John didn't pay any attention to Medusa. He pushed him forward, and the group
stepped through the spatial passage.
Buzz!
The spatial power fluctuated, and as they passed through, the spatial passage closed behind
them.
John had only brought Immortal King, Abyssbanshee, and the Death Knight with him-three powerful warriors. He didn't think much of the other monsters.
Whoosh!
The group arrived in another part of the Tower of Death. The area was still dimly lit, and the
air was thick with the powerful darkness power of laws.
"Hmm, someone's intruded? Go!" A furious shout echoed as the demons imprisoned in this
layer roared and charged toward them.
John sensed the area carefully but didn't detect the auras of Jean or Nature God. Moreover, the demons in this layer weren't as strong as the ones in the first level. The most powerful among them was only a peak eight-star demon, no match for them at all.
"Leave one alive, kill the rest!" John said coldly. These demons were mostly seven-star or higher. Killing them would allow them to plunder attributes. The group moved decisively, and these demons stood no chance.
In an instant, thousands of demons were slaughtered, leaving only a single eight-star Orc
alive.
The Orc fell to its knees before John, trembling in fear.
"I'll ask you. Four months ago, did you see an old man and a little girl?" John inquired, unsure
if Nature God and Jean had arrived in this layer.
The Orc shook his head rapidly, "Master, we haven't had any new arrivals in this layer for
hundreds of years..."
John furrowed his brows, ignoring the Orc as he turned to Medusa. "Go ahead."
Medusa nodded and once again tore open a spatial passage.
The group continued to step through the spatial passage, disappearing once more. They moved continuously through the Tower of Death, searching for Jean and Nature God while slaughtering the imprisoned demons along the way.
