Rebirth of a Farming Wife

Chapter 529: 536: Truly Convinced

Chapter 529: Chapter 536: Truly Convinced

Sikong Ling saw Su Wenyue’s little actions and also curled the corners of his mouth upward, feeling exceptionally pleased. Speaking of which, there were many people in his backyard of all sorts, yet no one could make him feel this way. Even without involving romantic entanglements, he felt content and happy just casually interacting with her.

Since Sikong Ling had found Su Wenyue, he naturally wouldn’t let her wander around outside recklessly. Besides, Su Wenyue had been out for quite some time; it was about time for her to go back to her room to rest. Given Su Wenyue’s delicate constitution,

Sikong Ling accompanied Su Wenyue all the way back to the courtyard. As he was leaving, Su Wenyue threatened him, “Hey, don’t tell Han Yu about what happened just now. Otherwise, I won’t be polite to you.”

Unaffected by Su Wenyue’s baseless threat, Sikong Ling raised an eyebrow, “This seems like you’re asking me for a favor, though your way of requesting help really isn’t much to speak of. What, are you afraid Han Yu will come back and settle the score with you?”

Sikong Ling knew that Han Yu, out of concern for Su Wenyue’s health, had kept her confined in the house for a while. Although he had recently relaxed the restrictions and allowed Su Wenyue to get some fresh air, if he knew she had acted so recklessly, he would definitely be angry. Speaking of which, Han Yu did have quite a skillset for training his wife, doting on her to an unbelievable degree, yet managing to discipline her so thoroughly.

“Who said that? I just hate trouble, that’s all. So will you promise or not?” Su Wenyue said somewhat uncomfortably. She really was somewhat afraid of Han Yu finding out. It wasn’t that Han Yu would do anything to her—after all, what was done was done—he would just keep lecturing her, giving her a headache. That’s why she specifically chose the time when Han Yu went with Divine Doctor Mu to the Back Mountain to gather herbs to come out.

“All right, I won’t mention it, being afraid of your husband isn’t something too shameful, there’s no need to hide it,” Sikong Ling said. Somehow, his words seemed to carry a hint of sourness.

Having received a positive response from Sikong Ling, Su Wenyue didn’t pretend to be courteous anymore and directly sent him away, leaving Sikong Ling feeling a chill in his heart.

That evening, when Han Yu came back, his face seemed no different than usual, but Su Wenyue still noticed something off from his small gestures. Han Yu said he went to the Back Mountain to accompany Divine Doctor Mu in gathering herbs, but Su Wenyue knew the real purpose of his trip.

“Husband, did the matter at the Back Mountain not go smoothly?” Su Wenyue asked directly, knowing that if Han Yu didn’t want to worry her, he definitely wouldn’t mention it.

Han Yu indeed felt a bit irritated. He had originally planned well, having found a path out of the valley in the Back Mountain after much difficulty. However, when he went to investigate in person today, he discovered that the path was impassable. While the path did lead outside the mountain, a perilous cliff stood in the middle. If it were just him, it might be feasible to take a risk and make it across, but not with his wife in tow. He would not want her to take any risks; he had only just managed to save her and preferred to keep her safe and sound.

Seeing his wife’s concerned expression, Han Yu felt reassured. He sighed and said, “Indeed, things didn’t go very smoothly. The path we found in the Back Mountain seems to be unusable. We will have to think of another way to get out of the valley. But you don’t worry, I will figure out a solution as soon as possible so you can reunite with our children earlier.”

So that was it. Su Wenyue wasn’t very worried in her heart. Even if the path at the Back Mountain was not viable, there were other routes. The most straightforward one was simply to leave from Peach Blossom Valley. If the path she found today truly was a way out of the valley, she had planned to talk to Han Yu about it later since she wasn’t yet certain.

“Husband, I might know how to get out of Peach Blossom Valley.” Seeing Han Yu looking worried, Su Wenyue couldn’t help but speak. She had just specifically threatened Sikong Ling earlier, yet now she was spilling the beans, saying with some uncertainty.

“You know a way out of Peach Blossom Valley?” Han Yu’s question was one of curiosity rather than doubt. After all, he had to admit, even begrudgingly, that it wasn’t impossible for his wife to know such a secret, considering Sikong Ling’s special treatment of her.

“I’m not completely certain. That path does look like it leads out of Peach Blossom Valley. I was planning to explore it further and tell you once I was sure,” Su Wenyue said. After finishing her words, she saw that not only was Han Yu not thrilled, but his face also turned grim, leaving her feeling a little uneasy.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

When Han Yu heard Su Wenyue’s words, he understood right away. His wife had secretly gone out to scout again behind his back. Han Yu knew that if his wife did the scouting, she would be less likely to raise suspicion, and with Sikong Ling’s indulgence, it would be easier for her. But Peach Blossom Valley was filled with mechanisms and arrays, and he forbade it because he feared she might face danger. Compared to gathering intelligence, Han Yu cared more about his wife’s safety. Yet she disobeyed; although she had promised him she would behave, she secretly went anyway.

“Husband, don’t worry, I will be careful with my safety. The critical spots are guarded, and although there are mechanisms and arrays in other places, all the mechanisms have been disabled by Sikong Ling. Even if I do fall into one, at most, I’ll get lost, but it won’t be truly dangerous,” she said.

After Su Wenyue said this, Han Yu’s face grew even darker. No man feels comfortable hearing about another man pleasing his wife, and Han Yu was no exception. Although he knew in his heart that there was nothing between his wife and Sikong Ling and he wasn’t actually concerned about it, after everything they’d been through, Han Yu just wanted his wife well and by his side. Of course, there would be some pettiness, at the least, he wanted his wife to know he did not wish other men to get close to her.

But Su Wenyue thought Han Yu was truly bothered, especially considering the previous incidents. When she confessed to Han Yu about her past entanglement with Sikong Ling in her previous life, Han Yu’s reaction was unclear. It didn’t look like he wasn’t bothered about it. She understood the psyche of men to some extent and certainly didn’t want Sikong Ling to ruin the relationship between her and Han Yu.

“Husband, there is really nothing between Sikong Ling and me. He might look presentable, but he’s actually the most flirtatious and heartless person. The kind I dislike the most…”

Han Yu saw his wife’s panic and worry and felt a pang of heartache. He cut off Su Wenyue’s explanation and embraced her, “My wife, I trust you. You’ve sacrificed so much for me, suffered so much. If I were to doubt you over such a trivial matter, I wouldn’t be much of a man, nor worthy of being your husband. Besides, how could I not know my wife’s character? It’s just that I am, after all, a man. Seeing other men coveting my wife and showering her with attention does make me uncomfortable. You have to understand that.”

Su Wenyue nodded head quickly in understanding, and the slight sense of grievance she previously held in her heart vanished instantly. Her face wore a comfortable smile, “I understand. It’s just like when you are with other women. Even though I know you’re putting on a show for others, it still feels uncomfortable. So, I will be more cautious in the future.”
