Chapter 201: General of Three Armies (3)
**Wooo!!!**
The horn for the next battle was blown. Close to twenty thousand soldiers marched together as they entered the middle battlefield.
"Everyone into your position! Follow the orders from your superior!" messengers were moving up and down as they relay Qin Lan's message throughout the army.
"Far-Left Army, follow the order of his highness Sun Ding Tian!"
"Far-Right Army, obey his highness Sun Chen Long's order!"
"Middle-Left Army, listen to his highness Sun Wu Jian!"
"Crimson Mist Army, charge forward!" Qin Fan took the initiative and started the battle.
"General, Commander Qin has started to move. Should we get the three other armies to start moving?" Expert Yi, Expert Shun, and Expert Xie asked while getting ready to relay Qin Lan's order.
"No. We will wait. The time is not here yet for our newly formed army to take action." Qin Lan said as he kept the (Stand) flag raised throughout his headquarters.
His attention is focused on the opposing camp. He's still guessing who will be the General across the battlefield. If it was Yang Yuan, perhaps the battle will be easier than he has thought. But the situation will be different if the right to command the army was given to the mysterious commander replacing Zhu Tianyi.
As they only exchange some tactics from yesterday's battle, the extent of that commander's ability is still unknown to Qin Lan.
"General. Can this subordinate ask if there's a reason behind our defensive stance here on our own ground?" Expert Yi asked. Although he might not be as experienced as the adjutants following the three princes, he's still a veteran on a battlefield like this one.
To many experts of his level, they have gone to small or big skirmishes for at least five to ten times. For them to voice out their opinion at this time wasn't weird at all.
Especially... When the battle could determine that they live through it or met their end right here.
"Reason? There's no specific reason. It just because I believe that being defensive would kill more than being offensive." Qin Lan smiled as he replied to expert Yi's question.
"What? Is that even possible?" Qin Lan's reply made expert Yi feeling puzzled without understanding the reason behind his answer. The expert turned his head to his two colleagues standing beside him, but just like him, they're both perplexed by Qin Lan's reply.
'How can a defensive stance kill more than an offensive one?' the three of them had the same thought.
"You log-head, can you understand what our young master wanted to say?" Huo Zunjie knocked Lu Yi's head as he wanted to see what he had in mind.
"I think so... The concept was almost the same as my Golden Bell Sect's martial art." Lu Yi said. Looking at his master's reaction as he speaks, it seems that he got the answer correct from his first random guess.
"OH! I got that correctly, I think!" Lu Yi made a fist pump as he felt proud of himself. But Huo Zunjie and Lu Qing Yun gave him a knock on his head anyway, as his face seems like he's looking for one.
"All of you should learn from Lu Yi. It is true that on a battlefield, one will have to beware of all schemes and tricks from your opponent. But you'll have to remember one thing no matter what happens."
"Sometimes, simplicity works. Standing on our own ground doesn't mean we have the initiative in killing our opponent like a fish struggling on top of a chopping board. That's because even a rat would retaliate if it was forced into a corner."
"What we need to do is to kill them without they knew it. Right here, we're the pitfall. No matter what we do, we won't hurt ourselves wherever we go. As for our opponents... Let's make sure, that be it voluntarily or not, we're take off a layer of their skin whenever they try to make a move against us."
"General, the Crimson Mist Army has engaged with our opponent's Beheading Army!" another messenger came forward with a report.
"How does it goes?" Qin Lan asked.
"Evenly matched. Commander Qin is fighting against two fourth-level Bone Reconstruction officers by himself as the others continue to push their opponent back. We've lost close to a hundred soldiers from the first contact and killed between a hundred and fifty." the messenger quickly reported.
"Relay my order. The three remaining armies shall stand guard behind the Crimson Mist Army. Whenever the Chi-Lan Army moves forward, they'll follow. If the army retreats, they'll cover their path." said Qin Lan.
"Your subordinate understood!" the messenger quickly left after receiving his order.
"Report! Xu Hu has made his move! His target seems to be the Far-Left Army led by his highness Sun Ding Tian!" another messenger came just seconds after the first one left.
"Look's like it's either Yang Yuan or the mysterious commander..."
"Relay my order! The second prince is to establish a Rampart Formation to defend against Xu Hu's attack. Tell them to not move from that position until I sent out three messengers at once!" Qin Lan instructed.
"Right away!" the second messenger left.
"Expert Shun, Expert Xie, I have a task for you both." Qin Lan turned his attention to the two experts and took two pieces of Qin Family Token out from his sleeve's pocket.
"Your subordinates are waiting for their order!" the two experts immediately kneeled as they wait for Qin Lan's command.
"Both of you shall lead a squadron of a hundred first to second-level Bone Experts. The two of you shall be the arrow I shot towards Xu Hu's army to take him down by surprise." Qin Lan said as he flicked the token into their hand.
"We'll obey the general's order!" the two experts nodded as they prepared to leave.
"Lu Yi." Qin Lan leaned on the chair he was sitting on earlier as he called Lu Yi's name.
"Young Master..." Lu Yi steps forward.
"Follow Expert Xie and Expert Shun. If I'm not wrong, they'll struggle a little when trying to punch deep into Xu Hu's offensive formation. Use whatever means necessary and bring back Xu Hu's head to me." said Qin Lan.
"Lu Yi... Understands..." cupping his fist together, Lu Yi left as he put the Crimson Mist equipment on him.
