Chapter 367 Higher Level
John's heart skipped a beat when he heard the question. During the previous time that he was giving an explanation of what had happened here, he had completely forgotten about the car.
When they first arrived here, they had actually been attacked by the mutants. The reason behind that being the fact that Jaden was the one that was being targeted by the mutant, and he himself was also a mutant.
So obviously, the car was damaged. And, when Jaden was getting out of the car, he had ended up destroying the door, which was also the same door that he had used to get out of the car, after realizing that the other door of the car could not be opened.
But now, he was required to give an explanation to what had really happened to the car? Thinking about that, John immediately began thinking of an explanation to give.
Despite all those thoughts in his mind, there was not even a single shift in his expression. He looked the same from the very same time before Oliver asked the question.
Anyway, that was something to be expected from a member of the special unit. If he could not maintain his calm in such a situation, then his training might not have been completed successfully.
John's mind span rapidly, thinking of what to say. And in just a matter of a few seconds, under Oliver's scrutinizing gaze, he came up with an explanation.
"Just like I told you before, the moment that we arrived, we found that the mutants were fighting against each other. Of course, we could not see clearly what was happening, as it was dark.
Considering the fact that we are not mutants, we had no choice but to stay within the car. We stayed in the car all this while, until the fight ended.
But during the fight, the car was suddenly attacked. It was as if there was an external force that was trying to lift the car. At the same time as the car was starting to rise from the ground, it began crumpling.
But in the next moment, the car dropped down, which was a relief to the two of us. But then, a muscular guy came over, and used the door of the car to attack. He just smashed it into someone before dropping it down, and chasing after them."
It could be said that John was someone who could think in just a little while, and brew such an explanation. Well, what he had said was partly true, just a small part. Nevertheless, Jaden who was listening from a distance could not help but be amazed.
He did not understand the reason why John was deciding to hide the fact that he was a mutant. But nevertheless, he appreciated it. The small the number of people knew about the fact that he was a mutant, the better the situation.
He did not possess that much information about mutants, but he understood one thing. The mutants were restricted. They were not allowed to appear within the other provinces, and with him being here, it was obviously something that was going to be considered as breaking of the unwritten rules.
It was a fact that he had been here all along, and had never left this province. But even then, would those people listen? Of course not. They would just consider him as a rule breaker, and there was a possibility that they might even try to kill him.
Jaden was not really sure about his current strength, as compared to a force such as the Smith family or the Raven mercenary group. But he was not willing to take a risk of exposing himself at the moment, unless he was sure that he could take them out.
Oliver looked at John suspiciously. He felt that John was hiding something, but he was not sure about it. Maybe there was more information about the battle that had occurred here.
It was just that he was not sure about it. And since John was not willing to say that, it was clear that even if he forced him, John would obviously not tell the truth.
As for the matter of giving him an order, that was something that he did not even consider. It was true that he was John's superior, but even then, they were brothers.
Considering that there was no negative impact at the moment, there was no need for him to be straight to John. But nevertheless, he decided that he was going to keep a close eye to John, just in case.
It was especially so considering that at the moment, the entire special unit was quite sensitive. The issue of the information within the special unit being exposed was definitely not good news.
"Okay. Let's wrap up everything here, and leave. We cannot continue staying here, as we cannot predict if mutants will be coming over or not. If other mutants somehow appear, and they are against the government, things will get messy." Oliver stated after letting out a helpless sigh.
John immediately nodded. Though, he could tell that Oliver was still suspicious of this. But what could he do? It was not as if he could forge some other excuses. The door of the car was there, and the car was also there, currently in a bad shape.
That was not something that he could change even if he gave an explanation. So, he decided to tell Jaden later on to make sure not to expose the fact that he was currently a mutant. Otherwise, he would obviously be taken in for questioning.
Everything was carried out at a fast pace, and in a little while, they had left the forest, heading back towards the city. But all this while, in different vehicles, all the members of the Eagle team were silent.
The reason behind that was simply because they understood that currently, things were getting bad within the special unit. And, it seemed that as time kept on moving, several more traitors might actually be found within the special unit.
But there was one thing that all of them hoped for. That was for not to be a traitor within the Eagle team. Otherwise, most of them would not be sure about what to do, especially knowing that a brother or two of them were actually a traitor.
Considering that the car that Jaden and John had come in had already been destroyed, they had no choice but to travel with Oliver. Oliver was in the passenger seat, while mouse was the driver.
Mouse was the driver that had been driving all this while, and he was quite skilled when it came to driving. But he still fell short when compared to both Jaden and that mercenary that had just died.
After getting back to the city, the businessman was allowed to leave together with his family. As for the members of the Eagle team, they had to report the incident.
So, they booked a private room within one of the five stars hotels present within the city. They went there after they had changed out of their combat uniforms, and were currently wearing civilian clothing.
After getting there, they immediately started a video call. And considering that Jaden was not a member of the special unit, he simply stood outside the door, but was not allowed to enter.
He was currently John's bodyguard, but that was not enough to allow him to be able to get all the detailed information about the special in it. That was something that was especially observed considering the current situation of the special unit.

Central province….n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
There was a river that passed at the center of the central province. And at this moment, at one point of the river, just at the banks, two figures were standing adjacent to each other.
They were looking at the river that was flowing in front of them, but did not say anything at all. It was as if they were enjoying the serenity that was brought about from hearing the sound of the crashing waters and the chirping of birds from the trees in the forest around them.
Just then, a phone began ringing. The expression on the two faces of the middle-aged men changed. There was a hint of irritation on their faces.
When they came over, they carried the phones that only a few people possessed the contact. That implied that unless there was an emergency situation, they would not receive a call.
If it was good news, they could just receive it after they had gone back. But considering that they were being called, they immediately understood that something had gone wrong.
Despite already knowing what was coming, the two of them were obviously not happy. One of the men took out the phone that was ringing, and received without even looking at the caller's information.
"Boss, things have failed. All of them have been killed. The devices that are used to monitor their vitality of all indicated that they are dead." A solemn feminine voice came from the other end.
"Understood. Make arrangements. This time, send someone at a higher level. This threat has to be eliminated no matter what. And, if possible, try to use other methods as well, to make sure that it is done." The middle-aged man responded in a rough and heavy voice.

Immediately after that, he ended the call. Then he looked at the man that was standing next to him and said, "It seems that things are getting more complicated than we expected."
