Chapter 1143: Purple Regalia Bloodline
Mistakes that Rex made in the past, its effect became apparent as of this moment.
At least for now, the bad effect became visible to him.
Due to the System Relaying Bet Quest that was forced out of him by the Fifthborn, he wasn't able to exploit the onset, of the Second Breath. He relied on Flunra to make the preparations for this phenomenon.
Had this happened during the First Breath, they would've been fine with only Flunra's help.
But unfortunately, this happened during the Second Breath.
Since the First Breath had reached its end—all Elders of the Supernaturals had already been awakened completely. Rex had dealt with the Elders before, but this time, the number of the Elders would increase by a lot.
Elder Nolacula, Tilrith, Enima, and the others were not the only surviving high-rank Elders.
More of them were now awakened and ready to tackle the new era.
It was also worth mentioning that there were some Elders that dated back—even to the first generation, exactly like Flunra, and thus—Flunra's monopoly on the ancient runes in the new era was lost, it was not exclusive to him anymore.
Any Elders from the first generation and early second generation knew what he knew.
Despite the boost to his ancient runes knowledge from the book provided by Rex, there were still exceptional individuals out there, who could create sophisticated formations with ancient runes to make the same formations, Iphor Magnet formation as Flunra did.
Because of that, the power increase they experienced right now is not that great.
Other high-rank Supernatural races must've also experienced the same thing.
In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if they grew way stronger than they were.
Realizing this Adhara couldn't help but frown, her exhilaration was vanquished instantly.
"So you're saying that the other Supernaturals also became stronger?" She asked.
Flunra nodded in response, confirming her understanding to be true.
Upon seeing that they grappled with the weight of the news—Rex quickly intervened—it was not the case entirely, "Don't be discouraged. Our formations received a boost from the castle—and I'm confident that our progress is still way better than theirs"
Rex was confident considering the castle's ability was able to make the Dark Elves complain.
He believed that their progress was way better than the Supernaturals.
Looking at the others, his eyes landed on Gistella and Kyran whom he was concerned about.
"Do the two of you have trouble absorbing the energy?" He asked.
Kyran was the first one to shake his head, "No, I can absorb the energies just fine"
"I also have no qualms, it's fine," Gistella replied, still a little bit distant in her voice.
Both of their bloodlines deviated from the norm as Gistella for example—her Werewolf Fiend bloodline, made her able to absorb energy from corpses. It made her similar to Delta, getting stronger through devouring strong opponents.
As for Kyran, Rex didn't even know exactly what his bloodline was.
He has never asked the System about it because of the circumstances he was in back then.
Naturally, he was worried whether they were able to absorb the energy fine.
Mid-conversation, all of their eyes widened and snapped to Evelyn, whose energy surged to a terrifying degree. Startled—they stumbled backward by a light push—observing a glowing mark on Evelyn's palm, it was her Luna mark.
Her Luna mark was glowing with a vibrant pink hue, throbbing with intense energy.
Evelyn then winced, clutching her chest in sudden pain.
Seeing this, Rex quickly dashed and caught her before she fell to the ground.
"What's wrong, Evelyn?! Control your power!" He exclaimed in worry.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn frowned and tried to suppress her power back into her body.
For a brief moment, it was going smoothly, but when the last push was needed—the energy exploded out again forcing a grunt out of her mouth, "I- I can't!" She yelped, biting her lower lip in pain.
Adhara and Gistella also came in to help, using their own energy to push Evelyn's energy.
But doing that made Evelyn scream, it was not helping.
"I can't breathe-!" She said amidst her gasp. "My mark, it's burning and itching!"
Rex's expression darkened as he registered her words—sensing the genuine anguish Evelyn endured. Her trembling voice—underscored the seriousness of the situation. His mind raced but he was unable to gain any notion of what was happening to Evelyn.
However, her pained expression was not something that Rex liked seeing.
His breaths became labored as he tried to think of anything to help her ease the pain.
Just then, Adhara realized something, her eyes sparkled in response.
"What is it, Adhara? Do you know something about this? If so then tell me right now!"
"I think this has something to do with her evolution. Her massive increase in power should've been the cause of this—her new, unknown bloodline must've reacted to her getting stronger"
"Evolution? Evelyn evolved? Since when?"
For a moment there, Rex contemplated when this could've happened.
But then, he recalled something.
During the great battle, the Fifthborn fired his Chaos Nova spell at Evelyn and the others.
It was a devastating spell, among the most potent, in the Fifthborn's arsenal—nearly claiming Rex's life in their prior exchange. Its sheer power made it formidable and beyond the capacity of most to contend with.
Not even a full group of ninth-rank realm entities would confidently take the spell head-on.
Regardless of that, the Chaos Nova was able to be neutralized.
Seeing the sight was surprising for Rex, and he thought their combined efforts paid off.
Now, it seems like he was wrong to guess that.
Evelyn evolved, and she was the one who made it possible to deflect the Chaos Nova spell.
Considering that she didn't even say anything to him, about her evolution—Rex could safely assume that Evelyn herself wasn't aware that she evolved. Somehow her own evolution had come to strike her at this moment, catching everyone by surprise.
Moreover, it didn't even cross Rex's mind because this wasn't the normal evolution process.
Back when Adhara was evolving, he got a notification.
Following that, she would need to meditate and choose her path of evolution.
Only then that Rex, would either accept her choice or not proceed with her evolution.
But nothing of that sort happened in Evelyn's evolution.
System, show me her stats! I need to know her bloodline right now!
Rex desperately asked the System, seeing that Evelyn was becoming weaker by the second.
<Please be patient, all features will be restored after the upgrade>
Upon seeing the single notification, Rex gritted his teeth.
Just then, his eyes flashed with light remembering an important feature of the System.
He only hoped that it was available even though the System was being upgraded.
How about the notification summary log?! Can I access that?
Even though he wasn't sure whether he missed Evelyn's evolution notification because of the intense battle against the Fifthborn or not, he decided to check—just in case. If Gelmar's and Dindora's evolutions were relayed to him, then surely Evelyn's would've been as well.
Fortunately, the notification summary log feature was available for him.
Rex was met with a panel with the list of notifications he gained alongside their time.
Scrolling down, he eventually found the notification he was looking for.
As he expected, he did miss the notification.
...
<Evelyn, the Luna of the user's pack has evolved into a higher-ranked Werewolf Bloodline>
<Pushed by the situation, she underwent spontaneous evolution!>
<Congratulations, the user's Luna has evolved into a Purple Regalia Werewolf>
...
Knowing the Werewolf bloodline that Evelyn turned into, the Purple Regaliar Werewolf, he did not waste time—and pivoted around, "What is the Purple Regalia Werewolf? Do you have any idea what that bloodline does?!"
Flunra was startled, but he quickly tried to recall anything about it.
"No... I'm afraid I don't know that kind of bloodline," He replied, shaking his head.
Upon hearing this, Rex was stressed as he could feel Evelyn getting weaker in his arms.
He didn't know what to do now that Flunra didn't know what it was.
Still—Flunra persisted in wracking his brain—attempting to recall if he had ever heard of the Purple Regalia Werewolf—and his efforts proved fruitful. In the recesses of his own memory, he vaguely recalled a tale recounted by a former comrade.
However, the details faded over time, leaving only fragments of the story behind.
It was a problem because it happened a very long time ago.
Refocusing back to reality, Flunra strode over to Rex and assessed Evelyn's condition.
"Did you know something?" Rex asked—hope resurfaced in his face.
Had the situation got any worse—Rex wouldn't even hesitate to go to the Werewolf Kingdom, and ask the Elders there if any of them knew about the Purple Regalia Werewolf bloodline, he was not taking chances with Evelyn's life on the line.
Swallowing his pride and safety is a cheap price to save Evelyn.
Naturally, he could ask the Countess, but she was unresponsive ever since the battle.
She was still awake, but replenishing her divine energy it seemed.
Checking whether there were more signs that could tell whether he was right or not, he then replied to the best of his abilities, "I vaguely recalled that there was a mythical bloodline that could appear in Lunas, I don't know if it's really Evelyn's bloodline—but it wouldn't hurt to try"
"It's a bloodline that was jokingly nicknamed a parasite," He added.
Upon hearing this, Rex frowned, "A parasite...?"
Not even explaining himself, Flunra pulled Evelyn's sleeves before he found what he wanted.
From her Luna Mark, there was this purple line with foreign marks along its length.
"Good, it's only one line—it means she only needs one host to be stabilized," Flunra nodded.
Rex didn't ask questions and offered, "Make me the host, whatever it is, I'll deal with it"
"Placed your hand above her Luna mark, it should start the process," Flunra instructed.
Doing as instructed, Rex grabbed Evelyn's hand that had her Luna Mark.
He didn't expect anything, focusing solely on Evelyn's well-being, but Rex was shocked when his hand, was pushed away by a shockwave, coming from the Luna Mark. He tried closing his hand again, but he wasn't able to touch Evelyn's hand like before.
"I can't bring my hand closer," Rex grunted, putting more strength against the invisible force.
But this made Flunra frown, "Seems like the Alpha couldn't be the host,"
Upon hearing this, Rex swept his eyes across the room to see the next best person after him.
Naturally, hearing the word parasitic and host—he was going to choose the strongest person right after him. And that person was supposed to be Kyran, but before Rex could choose him—Adhara volunteered.
"Let me be the one," She said, approaching and kneeling beside Flunra.
Rex looked at her with doubt, "Are you really going to go through with this? It's dangerous,"
"I am the Female Alpha, this is my duty," Adhara replied unwaveringly.
Amidst a whirlwind of hesitation, Rex was still in doubt—he decided to let Adhara be the one to do this, as if Evelyn was awake to choose, then she would probably choose Adhara—so in that case, he decided to let Adhara be the one.
Looking at Evelyn's unconscious state, Adhara firmly nods—grabbing ahold of her hand.
Unlike before, the Luna Mark reacted differently.
Instead of pushing Adhara's hand away, the Luna mark spreads its energy to Adhara's hand.
Expecting the process to be painful, Adhara closed her left eye but she found only warmth to embrace her hand. Soon enough—the Luna mark pulsated with a purple hue before dimming, seemingly deactivated again.
It faded into Evelyn's skin, disappearing from the surface.
As that happened, Adhara looked at Flunra, asking him whether it was okay for her to pull her hand back. Seeing the confirmation nod from him—she pulled her hand away slowly and took a look at her palm.
Since the energy went over to her, she expected it to leave a mark.
Just as expected, there was a mark left on her palm—and it was shaped like a straight line.
The Roman number one to be exact.
Seeing this, Adhara looked at Rex in confusion, "Now what...?"
