Chapter 150: Perhaps...
From there onward, Linfel's group simply continued with the same training methods as before. Linfel would choose who would fight and what they could and could not use during such fights. Of course, there had been times he had to intervene or allow someone else to help. It wasn't like he knew all the Magic Beasts and Ventis Sect controlled monsters of this Dungeon, after all.
Due to them taking unused routes and having to fight more enemies as a result, they took three days just to get to the entrance of the second floor. The second floor, which had a higher concentration of traps and enemies, took even longer. They only arrived at the third floor after five days.
Still, even though they didn't take common routes, it wasn't like they never met any magus or familiar. In fact, they met quite a few of them. Not everyone was afraid of exploring distant patches. Some even considered it good training, just like Linfel. There were those who were just lost al well, of course.
Other than that, they also found a few corpses or broken cores of Familiars. There were actually more than the ones Alvin and Milia found back in Lungan Forest. Since the Dungeon was used by many more experts, it was only normal for it to have more deaths. Proportionally, though, it had a smaller death toll than the Forest.
Linfel's group then stopped somewhere on the third floor, taking some time for Zandel, Alvin, and Milia to have their food while Linfel healed them. It also gave time for Nori and Kefin to recover their Magic Energy.
As they ate, another Magus-Familiar duo passed by them. They just looked at each other for a moment before the Magus and Familiar kept going on their way. Even if killers were much rarer in this Dungeon, anyone could become one at any given time if they wanted to. So, most of the Maguses and Familiars who avoided the mainly used routes wouldn't approach others if they could.
After that duo left, Alvin couldn't help but ask. "We have passed by so many Maguses and Familiars. We even found one or another Level Three, just like us. Yet, I haven't seen a single Level Five until now. How come? Back in Lungan Forest, there weren't many, but there were still some."
"Oh! That's because they can't enter the Dungeon," Zandel immediately explained. "This dungeon is considered an area for new disciples. To make sure no one will abuse of the resources in this dungeon, the Sect blocks the entrance of any Level Five Magus and Familiar or above. You probably didn't notice that since you obviously don't fit the criteria to be barred.
Those at Level Five don't even come here to start with since there is nothing for them to do."
"I see..." Alvin nodded, surprised. "We should have come here first instead of the Lungan Forest..."
Milia shook her head. "It matters not. Lungan Forest was closer, so many of us would still chose to go there instead to save time."
"Milia is right," Linfel joined the conversation. "That's probably why we haven't seen a single Level Five Magic Beast or one of these Dungeon-Controlled monsters. Most likely, there isn't any here."
Zandel shook his head, though. "There are level Five ones, but you can only find them from the fourth floor onwards. Before that, you will only encounter Level Three and Four opponents."
"Oh!" Linfel got interested. "That makes me wonder, how many floors are there in this Dungeon?"
Alvin took out his MCOM and checked the information of the Fucoes Dungeon. Yet, regardless of where he looked, forums, official websites, etc, he couldn't find an answer. "Hum? There doesn't seem to be any information regarding it."
Zandel agreed with him. "I checked that as well. The furthest people and familiars had gone was the fifth floor, which basically has Level Five Magic Beasts and the controlled enemies like the golems and elementals. Since no one at Level Five or above can enter, no one tried to venture much further since it was a meaningless risk."
Alvin couldn't help but laugh. "Hahaha! See, it truly looks just like a game. Guess what? There is probably a great treasure waiting for anyone who reaches the end of the Dungeon. Who knows?
There might even be a Dungeon Boss."
Milia sighed. "What's the point of any of that if no one can get there. Forget about it. We came here to train and fulfill the contracts. Let's finish eating and continue."
Yet, they suddenly noticed that someone seemed to be trembling. When they glanced to the side, they saw the look of excitement in the face of a certain wisp. "Treasures! Boss! Isn't that great?! Let's go take a look!"
Everyone froze for a moment. However, they quickly resumed their conversation as if nothing had happened. "Zandel, these ribs taste really good. How did you make them so juicy?"
Zandel smiled brightly in response. "There is a little secret behind it, the sauce! However, you need to control the temperature of the oven very well so the juice doesn't dry while the sauce gets absorbed by the meat. This is one of my best dishes."
Milia ate another piece, nodding. "This is incredible indeed. No wonder Linfel said we needed proper food. It feels completely different to train after we put proper food in our belies."
On the side, Nori spoke to Kefin. "So you see? Milia and I had been together since I was born, but she made me independent very soon. Nonetheless, I always stayed by her side."
Too bad Linfel's patience didn't last long. "Stop fucking ignoring me! Did you even hear what I just said?"
Alvin glanced at him. "I only heard someone giving an absolutely bullshit idea. Go to the end of the Dungeon? Find the boss? I only said that for fun! Did you even hear what Zandel said?
There are pretty much only Level Five Magic Beasts and controlled enemies on the fifth floor. The fourth level doesn't have as many, but it still has Level Five enemies as well. How do you expect to survive all of that?"
Milia nodded. "Linfel, I understand your Sparta-like methods and accept them since they bring the results, but what you suggested is beyond risking life and death. That is nothing but suicide. Did you forget the Level Five Gray Spiked Wolf? The four of us had to fight together and it was still dangerous. It was just a single Level Five Magic Beast, and there are plenty on the fifth floor.
Are you crazy?"
Zandel was happy he wasn't the only one who thought like that. "To end this discussion, you haven't thought of the worst yet, Linfel. Let's say we manage to get past the fifth floor, so what? Is the sixth floor the last one? No, let's pretend we somehow get past that as well and find this so-called boss. Do you think we could defeat it?
I'm absolutely not going."
Hearing all those comments, Linfel had to admit it was too much. "Fine! We will turn back as soon as we enter the fifth floor."
He still wishes to reach the fifth floor... Well, that was still plausible since there were very few Level Five opponents on the fourth floor. Besides, just reaching the fifth floor would add more Ventis Credits to their contracts.
Later that day... Linfel's group found themselves deep into the so-called sixth floor... Linfel turned to Alvin and the others, seeing their ugly expressions. "Errr... Ahem! Look!
Perhaps we can truly find the boss. Isn't that nice?"
