Chapter 112 Another World
It was the fifth of November that night, so the whole world was getting ready for winter, and the cold winds were like their emissaries, showing it through the city, blowing houses and the rare inhabitants who were still awake.
One young man stood in the dark part of the park with his arms outstretched to the side and a slight smile on his face. His eyes were closed, and icy water ran all over his body, which had already completely soaked into his old coat.
However, he wasn't freezing at all, for there was a bright fire burning inside him that didn't seem to be about to go out even after all eternity.
That day, for the first time, Zayne felt for himself a new emotion that had remained completely unattainable to him before -it was magnificence.
"Agh... Now I understand why even after a few days I didn't feel hungry or thirsty... Well, the same goes for sleep. I have yet to fully figure out what's going on, but it's incredible either way... By the way, what about my skills and items?" Zayne muttered, clenching and unclenching his fist.
He concentrated and tried to use his skill or summon some items from his inventory, but he had no luck. Zayne hoped it was possible, so he kept trying, but the result was the same.
"Damn... It looks like it's either impossible or I need to wait. Either way, I need to rest now and go check on Mia. After all, I have enough money to buy medicine for her now." Zayne yawned sleepily, shook his head, and headed home.
...
A few hours later, in the warm sunlight, Zayne was heading toward the hospital. He had time to accept his new reality and even get used to it a little, but something still bothered him.
'Andre and Tina... Given that they were the reason I decided to check it out, they too realized that Fallen Fate Online is somehow connected to our world. However... How many other players have figured this out? Obviously, there will be more like me and Andre every day... Fuck... It's going to be real chaos!' Zayne said to himself as he shuddered slightly, imagining the future.
Zayne shook his head, trying to rid himself of the thoughts that were literally devouring him, and headed for the store. He hoped that Mia would be conscious today too, so Zayne picked up some ripe mangoes.
He behaved as usual, after all, significant changes were still a long way off, and the world could always adjust to even the most global changes.
'Hmm... I could be wrong, but this shouldn't be much different from other key changes in the world... For example, when people learned to use electricity, literally everything changed! What about the internet? It's probably the greatest invention in thousands of years of evolution!' Zayne inwardly sighed picking out the candy.
Zayne tried not to panic and think about everything rationally, as humanity had come a long way in hundreds of years.
In the beginning, the great difficulty was to create a simple stone axe, but today, mankind had the opportunity to destroy the entire planet with some rockets.
Zayne headed towards the exit, completely immersed in his thoughts, and he did not notice at all that many eyes were directed at him. From the first time people found out who Zayne Fellen was, his popularity increased greatly, so some people recognized him even in an ordinary store.
People began to whisper, trying not to draw attention to themselves, but considering how many there were, the situation became strange. This made some people want to talk to Zayne in person.
Whoooooooooooosh.
A girl with short red hair and a bright smile on her face appeared in front of Zayne. Her eyes were wide open as if she had seen a real celebrity.
'Hmm...? What's going on? Who is this girl?" Zayne tilted his head in confusion, then he stepped to the side, trying to get around her.
The girl looked at Zayne walking away, then she reappeared in front of him, spreading her arms out to the side.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?" Zayne frowned.
"Hah... Are you really Zayne Fellen...?" The girl asked with an excited expression, taking a deep breath.
Zayne blinked, quickly figuring out what was going on and waving his hand, "No, that's not me."
The girl stood still with a puzzled face, then a fire lit in her eyes, and she ran after Zayne. He saw this and speeded up his step, Zayne didn't want to race through the store, so the girl was slowly catching up with him.
'Damn... What's wrong with her?!' Zayne became angry as he abruptly turned around.
The girl wasn't expecting that, so she tried to stop so she wouldn't run into him, and because of that she accidentally hit the stand, dropping several bottles of wine, one of which was right over her head.
Whoooooooooooooosh.
Zayne instinctively flailed his arms, clasping the neck of the bottles between his fingers, thereby grabbing the six bottles of wine from imminent destruction, then he extended his leg, catching his bag at the last moment, preventing it from falling.
This scene may have looked comical, as normally, peaople would only see such a thing in a circus from a trickster, but Zayne's cold stare ruined that atmosphere.
"Hah, it's really you. Join my guild!" The girl exclaimed confidently as she held out her hand with a wide smile on her face.
Zayne's veins bulged as he grimaced, but after a deep sigh, he calmed down. Zayne silently placed the wine on the shelves, stretched his neck, and stepped forward.
"I don't play games. You definitely mistook me for someone else." Zayne said calmly, walking out of the store.
The girl didn't chase after him again, as she'd had enough of what she'd seen.
'Heh, just as I suspected, in the real world you're a pretty humble person, or at least you try to seem like one... Idiots who think Zayne Fellen is ex-military or a special agent have no idea what's going on at all.' The girl said inwardly, with a confident stride as she headed forward.
There was a crack in the white tiles where she stopped in front of Zayne, though before their collision it wasn't there.
