The Time I Got Reincarnated As An Extra

Chapter 237: Facing Katherine [2]

Chapter 237: Facing Katherine [2]

****

Her once beautiful face had lost all of its allure and natural attraction, even more than Amelia.

There were dark circles under her eyes and her red eyes were open, bloodshot, showing just how much she had cried.

There were tear marks all over her face, so much that one would wonder that she had no tears left to cry off.

She laid straight on the sofa, her body naked to the cold without any blankets, with her bloodshot eyes staring up lifelessly.

Her bones clearly showed through her now thin skin, highlighting her starvation and weight loss.

Katherine, who was once considered to be the second most beautiful girl in the academy, was now simply a bag of bones.

It made a sharp pain travel through Amon's soul, his eyes clenching with suffering.

And then unknowingly, he felt something hot drip down his cheeks.

Amon was barely able to control his sobs, still taking care to not wake Lily up.

Unfortunately, for the lifeless elder sister on the sofa just a small act like this made his presence known to her.

Whether it was a sisterly instinct or genuine alertness for an intruder, nobody knew. But Katherine's bloodshot eyes moved for the first time, turning to the side. Before landing on Amon's pained, teary face as he struggled to control his emotions. And in an instant, her eyes widened with shock.

However, the concern for her lost brother was faster as without any hesitation or wait, she shot from the sofa at a breakneck speed, which would make one doubt if she was still the same lifeless figure.

Before Amon would even move his hands from wiping his tears, Katherine was already in front of him, her form colliding with him.

Her arms wrapped around him into a tight, extremely tight warm hug as both of them tumbled down on the floor, Amon unable to support her weight in surprise.

As soon as they collided with the floor, there were no sobs or cries from Katherine.

Nor did she ask for any explanations about the previous incident.

The very first thing she did was wipe his tears from his eyes with her sleeve, while still keeping him in a tight hug.

She looked straight into his black eyes with concern and worry, her previous lifelessness completely gone.

"What happened!? Did someone hurt you!? Did they say something to you!?" She

immediately asked, her voice strong and worried.

Her gaze continuously moved from his face to his neck and arms, trying to see if he was hurt or anything.

And as Amon saw her actions with surprise evident in his eyes, a long lost memories resurfaced in his mind.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

He was young. Very young of about 5 years old.

He remembered being beaten by two kids in a playground, coming home crying with his clothes dirty.

But it didn't even took him the effort to open a door as the then 9 year old Katherine came rushing out, enveloping him into a sisterly hug and calming down his cries.

She wiped his tears from her sleeves and asked him who had hurt him with her strong gaze.

One word from him about the boys was all it took. All it took for Katherine to go rushing to the ground, coming back minutes later.

And after that, she made him his favorite food and cleaned him up, while Amon never saw those kids within a 100 meters of him for his whole life.

And the memory ended, Katherine's then young caring figure overlapping with the present

one now.

Seeing her concern-filled brown eyes pushed even more warmth and pain to Amon's eyes. Gritting his teeth once more at how much of an idiot the previous Amon had been, he wrapped his arms back around Katherine in a tight hug.

He kept gritting his teeth while keeping his head on Katherine's shoulder, hiding his pained expression from her.

Katherine, who was brought back to the present as well by his action seemed to realize where they were right now.

At the same, the memories of the previous days also resurfaced back in her now clear mind, reminding her that her lost brother was now back in her arms.

And in the next moment, Amon felt Katherine's arms around him tighten even further, as if intending to never let him go again.

In tandem, he felt Katherine move again as she buried her head into his chest, not being able to keep it on his shoulders anymore because of their height difference.

It took no time for Katherine to erupt in a downpour of tears and sobs as she tightly clung to Amon's shirt from behind.

Amon didn't say anything, his head in silence above her as he gave her all the time to let it all out on his shirt.

The sounds of tears even dripping down on the floor just showed how much Katherine was still holding back.

For the first time since he arrived, Katherine spoke.

"Why?" She asked as she tightened her arms once more.

Amon remained silent.

But she continued, her sobs becoming more stronger.

"Why do you keep doing all this!?" She screamed in his chest, not looking into his eyes.

Amon felt Katherine clench her fist hard behind him, pulling his shirt.

"Why do you keep pushing yourself continuously into danger!? Why does it always have to be

you!?"

More tears dripped down on the floor as Katherine showed no end to her tears.

"Why can't it be someone other than my brother?" Her voice turned weaker now as she let go

of his shirt.

"Why, out of so many people does it always have to be my brother to bear all this?" She

sobbed, slamming her fist weakly into his chest.

"Why? Why? Why? Why Amon!?" She slammed her fist into his chest along with each 'Why?',

her voice gradually turning weaker.

Silence reigned in the room afterward, her sobbing and tears still continuing as she waited for an answer from Amon, the boy who said nothing as she let it all out.
